The reasoning is right in the article...Harris says they pulled it because of a DT that was willing to commit...Kirkland had his chance...say yes and we will honor the commit and say no to a player at a position they really need- defensive tackle. Since Kirkland (and Mr. Harris) decided to call Al's hand...one fewer hat on the table. That's life.

The best I've read yet...written in non-lawyer talk by a lawyer (some graphic language)... http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2013/1/24/3907888/ncaa-miami-investigation-scandal

With regard to Okie State...that is why I mentioned the drops...offense and defense. You can trace all of the up and down quarters, games, etc., to mistakes. Dorsett runs 40 yards and fumbles, TD pass bounces off Walford's chest and is intercepted in the end zone...young 'uns amke those types of mistakes and then are also affected by them.

PB, Not to mention the fact that Highsmith has a tipped pass for an interception hit him between the numbers at the ND 18 on the play prior to the roughing the punter. Young kids live and die by momentum.

Oklahoma State had the 107th ranked defense in the country last year...went 12-1 and should have played for the NC. If they get the drops taken care of (offense and defense), they can win the ACC. Anybody predict ACC championship chance for this team two months ago? I,for one, would be very happy to be playing in the ACC championship game this year.

RCCF...where do you live in the city? I live in Edmond...and hate OU...love to fly my "U" flag in the neighborhood on Saturdays around here.
"If he plays in attack mode, both with and without the ball, the guy makes rediculous finishes at the rim." Dude So what you are saying is he needs to play like Westbrook...27 points (10-for-24, 6-for-10 in the paint), 8 boards, 11 assists, and only two turnovers in 42 minutes. This ain't 2006.

CGNC, I hear you. Living in OKC as I do, it has been a blast watching these kids grow up in front of us. Very few people around the country get to see these guys play regularly outside of the playoffs, but it is one heck of a good basketball team full of great guys. When we went down 2-0 to San Antonio, everyone was talking about firing Brooks and shipping Westbrook to Siberia. Should be a great series but I still say OKC in 6.

But can they do it 4 times? Let me know the last time that they got 29 from Chalmers and Battier and didn't get 100. Harden had an off night scoring and so did Ibaka. Doesn't look good for the Eastern Conference...again.

Thunder in Six! Posted by: Texascane | June 10, 2012 at 09:24 AM Heat in Five! Posted by: CEO | June 10, 2012 at 11:48 AM Heat in 7! H E A T!!!!! Posted by: CGNC | June 11, 2012 at 01:10 PM The problem for the Heat is that they are going to have to score 100+ to beat OKC. Just don't believe thay have the horsepower to do it. There won't be any 78-75 games in this series.

Hurricane...should be interesting to see the two best players in the world play against each other...not to mention the richest- Real paid $100,000,000 for Rinaldo and Messi has a 330,000,000 dollar buyout clause with Barcelona (yes, those are millions).

OGV, My point was that Miami has 30 less players on their squad than FSU, Florida, FIU or any state school that has lower admission standards and tuition. Most of the state schools actually have so many kids wanting to walk on that they have tryouts in September just to be on the practice squad. I think Al just needs O-line bodies so the "ones" don't have to play against the "ones" in practice every day.

As the father of a former O-Line walk-on at Miami, I can tell you that large state schools have 50-60 kids every year that could play at a lot of smaller schools try out for the football team as walk-ons. The problem is that private schools like Miami have virtually none. Miami costs 60,000 per year to attend and just try getting through admissions on your own...23,000 applications for less than 3,000 slots (half of them young ladies). Not a fertile ground for walk-on football players. This really hurts the private schools as 30 of the 115 football players the NCAA allows are non scholarship athletes (only 85 schollys). The scout team really suffers and the twos and threes play a lot more in practice and that leads to injury exposure. Joaquin Gonzales was a walk on for the U and he did pretty well for himself. I have no problem with the football team looking to the student body for players to fill out the roster of 115...I will bet you that the U has not had 115 players on their team in their history. A wise move by Al...

I would hate to be one of the four recruited QB's on Wisconsin's roster right now...Russell Wilson last year, Danny O'Brien this year...who says NCAA doesn't have free agency?

Mandatory Knee Braces- Hassan Jury is out on requiring the O-linemen to wear them. Having two offensive lineman sons of my own, the argument against them was that while they prevent some side to side minor-moderate injuries, the knee injuries that do occur when the knee has no flex at all are catastrophic. Pretty much pick your poison.

Williams' arm looks like one of Jacory's legs in that picture...good to have a big 'un back there.

I love the fact that Miami, ranked #8, has to play unranked Gonzaga on Gonzaga's home floor...in Spokane. WA.
