Brene Brown will be proud of you for that post. I've painted the wall I lie next to a very dark grey, OK, black. I may appear to be a 50 something Goth, but it does seem to have helped me sleep. J

Another in the series 'Cathy channels my thoughts'. Hmm this is getting spooky! I've not taken part in December Daily either. Maybe I will this year... with a different perspective. Your posts always make me reflect on life. Thanks.

As a survivor, I can only say, hang in there you two ageing hipsters. The middle aged dating game is littered with men in ill fitting leather jackets who have never heard of Billy Bragg. 'mare.

Happy Birthday Cole! Billy Bragg, 'nuff said. :) x

As a single parent I usually vomit at 'smug marrieds' and their self-congratulatory celebrations of a long marriage, but Cathy and Dan I salute your honesty and wish you many, many more years together. You are made for each other and have spectacularly wonderful kids! Dating in your 40s is a horrible game, don't ever think the grass is greener :)

Thank you so much for the kind words about Mollie Makes. We loved your book and are glad you liked our review. We felt it was time for a new kind of craft magazine, seems like you did too :) Jane Toft (Editor)
Now this just getting too spooky. Guess what I gave in and signed up for today? Yup. It was Instagram that did it for me too. Plus my digital camera has been wrecked by my video making thirteen yesr old boy! Have fun :)

Honest and heartfelt as always Cathy. Keep moving, keep smiling and feel blessed to have a healthy body. Don't beat yourself up - that's what those pesky marketing types at Weight Watchers want you to do (and part with your hard earned cash!). J x

I'm proud to be the Art Director of this beautiful new print magazine launch. We go on sale May 12th 2011. The image I've shared is the cover of the sampler. Issue one features a crochet project which never fails to bring a smile to our faces in the office...... Continue reading

I'm working with two super slim women in their 40s at the moment. Both have 2 children. Interestingly they both say they put on weight around this time of year but don't fret as they know it will disappear when the Spring weather arrives and they can get outside more. I got on the diet treadmill when I was about 13 (don't let our daughters do the same!) and ever since have always been trying one method or the other. Looks like these ladies have the answer - don't be too hard on yourself and move more whenever you can!

So 2011 has dawned. The year I turn 50. I sailed through 30. At 40 I was a single Mum to a 3 year old, so didn't notice or celebrate that one either. 50 isn't sitting quite so easily with me. I'm not ready, it has sneaked up on me... Continue reading

You have got me emotional too! I expect Aidan will do the teenage thing and roll her eyes at the heartfelt journalling, but she will know how much Mum loves her. The most important thing in the uncertain world of a teenage girl.

She looks fabulous! Wise words from Mum too. I am also suitably impressed that you like Mumford & Sons - you constantly make me reassess my prejudiced views of American musical taste ;)

Beautiful photos and the juxtaposition of shots is lovely. I find I spend most of my time working out which shots look best together. Inspiring as always Molly. Thanks for sharing.

Dusty Springfield has always been an icon of mine. Sometimes that was considered deeply unhip, sometimes like now, it's retro trendy. Whatever, the girl had the best white soul voice EVER. I watched her TV shows in the late 60s and wanted to be her, with the dresses, the bouffant... Continue reading

Love the layout! It's an interesting topic isn't it, whether to create a layout if you didn't actually have photographic evidence? My son is nearly 13 and not keen to be in many photos, but I still want to record our lives. Maybe journalling is enough sometimes!
