I played D&D for the first time ever this weekend. In large part, my interest in the game came from here and various things you've written. Won't be the last time I play and apparently I need to go out and buy dice now.
i have the heart of a dragon (no, really, i do)
Home from GenCon. Happily exhausted. I killed a dragon with one hit. Now, it's time to sleep for two days.
"stomping through puddles long after I was old enough to know better (like into my 20s)"
Interestingly, after your 20s old enough to know better becomes recognizing that you should stomp through puddles....and it's a lot more fun than stopping to smell the roses.
moves by just like a paper boat
It's been raining pretty steadily, very heavy at times, since yesterday afternoon. The weather service says we should expect this to continue for at least a week, but it could go on for up to two weeks. I mention this because it hardly ever happens here, and if people weren't truly in danger fro...
About two weeks into Amnesia of the Future, I came back here and started listening to the Futurecast....it was so strange going back to the book and hearing your voice rather than just seeing the words.
While my AotF project is technically finished - I do have a few more Futurecasts to listen too and it's become increasingly difficult to not laugh outloud in my tiny open floor plan office while listening along - this clips episode especially.
Now I can't wait for Volume 2 to come out because watching/listening/reading has become like a horrid crack addiction and I'm afraid that I'll start going into withdrawl soon.
Memories of the Futurecast Episode 13: The [Worst | Best]. Episode. Ever.
Holy crap! It's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of th...
I would take a class like that in a heart beat. I always scoffed at teachers who told me "you'll need this when you're an adult" and now regret that I ignored them. But it would have to be affordable. Nothing more annoying that finding a class, getting excited over it and then finding out it's for 6 hours over two months and costs a leg, three fingers, the soul of your goldfish, and $1200.
caitlen315 is right on - I'd rather see you at a show or event in person because I've already got the online experience. wootstock really needs to come to the East Coast.
And aweome numbering of your list. No refresher course needed to get it!
ten quick things, including some math, a comic, and a few ideas
I can't believe it's Friday, which means tomorrow is the weekend. Where did this week go, anyway? A few things I wanted to mention before I get busy: 1. If you'd told me a year ago that I'd be going to bed between 9 and 10 every night, then waking up entirely on my own between 6 and 7 the next m...
WOW. I just had a heart attack in line at the grocery store while reading Twitter. A minor heart attack.
I am SOOOOOOO glad you like what I'm doing. For a moment I got nervous that I was Twitter-stalking you (which I sort of am) and was stepping on toes or some such.
Offically, I just finished watching through "Where No One Has Gone Before" and caught up on my reading on the subway. It's such a fun ride and despite all the pop-culture references over the years and friends spoiling things by asking me if I've gotten to "the episode where xyz happens" it's been incredible to see things happen that are totally unexpected in the context of what I do know.
Thanks so much for writing the book and being part of the catalyst to finally introduce me to the shows/get me hooked.
"What on earth did nerds do in the 1980s to figure this all out?"
I'm way late to the party on this, but I just started reading Spook Country this week. Unlike most Gibson books I've read, it doesn't ramp up slowly, and instead hits the ground running (that's not a bad thing). I'm only 30 pages in (it's been a busy week without a lot of time to read) but I'm p...
I have read all the show notes,
Yet I have not listened to the podcasts.
And I have never seen an episode of StarTrek.
So, I have purchased your book.
And I have received the DVDs of through Netflix.
Come Saturday I shall watch and read.
As I record my reactions in my blog, you will be the Julia Child to my Julie.
Then I'm totally coming back here to listen.

Memories of the Futurecast Episode Nine: The Battle
Holy crap! It's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of t...
