The idea Cordain presented is not that saturated fat is bad, but that it's bad if you eat it in combination with "refined CHO, wheat, vegetable oils, dairy, saponins, etc", in his words. I don't know whether he's right or wrong, but since we shouldn't be eating those foods he mentions anyways (with the exception of raw dairy), it's kind of a moot point.

Matt, Just discovered your blog recently and am enjoying it. Here's another paper (http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/content/short/134/1/183) suggesting that DHA is essential. As you probably know, we can make DHA into EPA by lopping off the last two carbons in the chain, but many studies show that the conversion from EPA to DHA doesn't work nearly as well. (And forget about ALA to DHA - only 0.5% is converted even in healthy people). Jarrow makes a fish oil that has a 7:1 ratio of DHA to EPA called Max DHA. Could be worth a try.
