The state religion of the Saudi kingdom is Wahhabism, a cult dating from the 18th century and Islam's answer to Cromwellism. The Saudis have spent billions around the world building Islamic schools that teach disrespect and hatred not only for Jews and Christians, but for Shia Muslims and Sufis. I've said it before: following the 9/11 attacks, Iran should've become a natural ally for the U.S. They had a moderate leader at that time, Khatami. But no, President Bush read his "Axis of Evil" speech (authored by David Frum, a Canadian kid) and alienated a nation. And what do nations do when they feel under attack? They swing to the right: *now* look at who we have to deal with. Saudi suicide bombers continue to pour into Iraq while the Americans look for traces of "Iranian components" in roadside bombs. Sad.
