They've put quite a bit of effort into that, haven't they?
I've actually challenged the guy playing Picard to a Captain-off once. I think he might have won due to actually looking like Picard while I was trying to pull off a female version of Mirror!Kirk.
Your move, Fan Fiction Writers
This is Safe for Work. As Chris Hardwick says, I think I'm going to buy this, and skip the naughty bits so I can see the story. (There are a bunch of NSFW behind the scenes pictures from actress April O'Neil -- who is a gigantic geek, apparently -- right here.)
I bought Toy Story last year because I like you, and you were in it, and I really enjoyed it. It immediately fell into my "80s films I love"-filter even though it's from 1990.
I may or may not have shed a tear at Joey's death, because I'm emotional like that, but may or may not also have pointed and laughed a bit at the ear ring. I shall treasure that pic of you pointing and facepalming for quite a while.
Thanks for doing a post about it. That film wormed its way into my heart quite sneakily, so it's nice to see it get some recognition.
BTW, that spanking scene? (I'm leaving that question open).
regarding dangly ankh earrings and the 18 year-olds who wore them in 1990
I shoot Big Bang Theory on Monday before I go back to Vancouver to finish out the fourth season of Eureka, so I have scored an entirely unexpected bonus weekend at home with my wife. Yesterday, we heard that Toy Soldiers was playing on local station KDOC (which was one of the truly great UHF sta...
As another friend of the maker of that macro, I have to add my appreciation for it and say that she's probably chuffed to bits right now.
Wesley Crusher's Sweet-Ass Motherfucking Bouffant
When I was a teenager pretending to fly a spaceship, I got to do a lot of really cool things with a lot of really cool people. The price of admission to this wonderful world, though, was the most annoying hairdo I've ever experienced in my life. I called it Wesley's Helmet Hair, because it did n...
I just wanted to let you know you were awesome in this episode of The Guild. Fawkes is one of my favorite characters anyway, but this episode in particular was brilliant for him.
You actually made me swoon a bit at one point.
You may ask yourself, "well, how did I get here?"
About two hours ago, I said goodbye to my friends on the set of Eureka, and rode back to my home away from home, here in Vancouver. About an hour ago, I started doing my laundry and packing my suitcase. I think the last time I did coin-op laundry, I was 20. It's strangely familiar, and the uniqu...
I'm glad 38 year old you is willing to cut that kid a break, because he is absolutely adorkable.
FLASHBACK! True Stories From Famous People
When I was a dorky teenager, I was sort of thrust into the spotlight by Stand By Me and Star Trek. I've written before about how weird the whole thing was, and how uncomfortable a lot of the attention made me, but it wasn't all bad; I got to do some cool things, and meet some cool people as a re...
I'm having a nosebleed right now. I'm blaming this on a delayed reaction to seeing this picture. My veins were unable to deal with the hotness.
"as his kilt rises..."
I think this is one of those rare things that can be equally enjoyed* by those who have context, and those who don't. *for very disturbing values of 'enjoyed'
Although I am of the breed that actually prefers the geek physique to the rippling muscles and bulging veins, I do have to admit that this is a thing of beauty.
This is one of those occasions where you see something you never knew you wanted, but when you see it you're not quite sure how you ever lived without it.
I will buy this on any merchandise presented to me.

Seeing that feels just like seeing a double rainbow!
The Guild: Season 4
Here's the teaser trailer for season four of The Guild:
This, this may have made my day. I went through all of my Guild DVDs again the other night, and I'm very much looking forwards to seeing you rocking the kilt again. (Why don't all men have kilts? Do they just not want to spoil us women?)
in which another secret is revealed...
Spoiler alert: If this interests you, you really want to listen to Radio Free Burrito Episode 28.
If you do "Wil Wheaton is Just A Geek" somewhere in Europe, I promise I will come see it. Especially if it's in Norway or England.
from the vault: april's fool
Every year, I dream up some epic April Fool's thing, realize how much work it would take to do it well, and end up just waiting to see whatever Think Geek does. This year, I ended up doing something fairly (hey, my fingers just automatically typed fail while my brain was thinking fair. That's fu...
That's beautiful. You made having to wait up for my sheets to dry so I can go to bed worth it.
I wish I could pull off those suits the way you guys did.
one of my favorite moments from PAX East
This is what happens when Paul and Storm and I Get Excited And Make Things: I forget precisely how this whole thing came together, but I remember Paul showing me the video, which prompted some sort of "this is the most amazing thing I've seen since the last time I said that" response from me...

Chasing Amy is hardly obscure. Right? Or am I viewing the world through nerd goggles again.
*is still in shock over being the only one in her class at Uni to know who William Shatner is*
CSI: D&D
This is a little bit of gallows humor that I whipped up and sent to Scott Kurtz and my friends at Penny Arcade when we all knew that Aeofel was dead, but couldn't tell anyone else in the world. It seems pretty stupid and clunky now, but at the time, it was as hilarious as it was cathartic to me...
Only my flat mate can attest to how much I squeed over the awesomeness that was that episode.
Please tell me that you will be back in your kilt for next season?
I'm so excited to see where the Codex/Fawkes storyline is going.
*squees some more*
the guild the guild the guild THE GUILD THE GUILD THE MOTHERFRAKKING GUILD
I, uh, had trouble coming up with a title for this post. Sorry about that. So season Three of The Guild wrapped up this week, and if the feedback I'm getting via Twitter and e-mail is any indication, we can make a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. Felicia has a post at her blog where she talks in a spoil...
I now feel much better after spending the day procrastinating. Thanks!
on the hunting down of ideas
I've been struggling lately to turn a lot of ideas I have into actual stories. I kind of feel like my writing mojo has taken a temporary leave of absence, and the harder I look for it, the harder it is to find. It has been incredibly frustrating. This morning, in Warren Ellis' BAD SIGNAL e-mail,...
