Thanks for the love, chief. I will return the good words posthaste. A book of nothing but BEQ themelesses, you say? WANT. For other Puzzazzery, I've started T Campbell's Crossworlds I. These are all science-fiction crosswords, which is pretty swank. And not junior-grade stuff either. You gotta bring some knowledge. Mike

Thanks for the plug, dude. I will return the love! And I will accept any and all pre-posthumous beatifications folks want to throw my way. Mike

I very much enjoyed contributing two variety cryptics to the first Crasswords. This time, I hope no one will hide behind a pseudonym to avoid potential embarrassment. Who'd believe a name like "Brendan Emmett Quigley" anyhow?

The Error That Cannot Be Named (or TETCBN, because we don't want to name it) is cluing an answer with a clue that contains the answer, or a significant part of it. So cluing CAT as "Cat-lover's pet" breaks TETCBN. Mike

Thanks for the shoutout, B. FYI, I didn't name The Error That Cannot Be Named rule. So you've committed The Naming of The Error That Cannot Be Named Error. Mike

I think you and I have talked about why I don't have any interest in being an internet personality like you are. I've found that in person, I can get all up in arms in front of someone based on an accurate read of what they mean, and don't have any fear that they will misinterpret me. But I simply don't have the tools to carry on an argument on Twitter. I can't say what I mean in that space, and I can't assume anyone else has the space and inflection to say what they mean. So I turtle up and let it all pass. Which is probably also not the right approach, since people have said some unfortunate things about me that I've very much wanted to respond to, and have later regretted that I haven't. But I haven't been able to have it both ways. Anyway, I doubt that helps much, but I figured it was worth saying. Glad you worked it out. Mike Selinker

Flash forward to PAX this year: I was invited to a party celebrating the release of the latest incarnation of Magic, called Zendikar. The people who run Magic at WotC gave me an extremely rare spoiler card, (which prompted someone from D&D to say, "Hey! Wheaton belongs to us! Hands off!") I never thanked you properly for being kind enough to come to our Zendikar party AND being part of our D&D Online succubus hunt at PAX. I'd say you were an equal-opportunity belong-ee. Mike
