Hello, I came across a similar article and comments from a Duct Tape Marketing blog. Among other things, they suggested a)giving a straightforward and succinct intro at the beginning of the email, with more detailed info or links to video, podcasts, etc later on; b) maintaining a casual but respectful tone (too formal was a turn-off, and too "buddy-buddy" was also annoying); and c) thinking about what you could offer the person or company you are pitching to make it win-win; and d) not using a template or form-letter-looking email- these got deleted a lot more quickly when you have to quickly scan 100's of emails! Info along these lines is very useful to someone like me who is relatively new to the blogging world, so thanks for posting this and I hope this helps someone else! Victoria www.sveltebride.com

Sveltebrides: Here's more data on two supplement ingredients (both of which are part of the Reset Program) that help control blood sugar. The data on chromium is especially compelling. Interestingly, chromium levels in women become more and more depleted with each pregnancy- suggesting this may be one reason women find it harder to lose weight with each additional child! AbstractDiabetes Metab Res Rev. 2008 Jan-Feb;24(1):41-51. Chromium picolinate and biotin combination improves glucose metabolism in treated, uncontrolled overweight to obese patients with type 2 diabetes. Albarracin CA, Fuqua BC, Evans JL, Goldfine ID. Why does this condition concern Svelte Brides? Have you ever heard an alternative practitioner say, "Your adrenals are shot," and you were like huh?! This gives you an excellent explanation, as well as explains that most western physicians don't even know what it means. In terms of what we've discussed on this website, we know that chronic stress leads to increased levels of cortisol, which can contribute to weight gain. This is another example of how stress disrupts the body's delicate balance and the importance of proper nutrition. So read this, then go relax!! Excessive stress may contribute to the... Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you how this program has helped me and my family. My husband and my mother and I started the reset in November. We continued on with transition and are still in that phase of the program. My mother (June) has severe osteoporosis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, acid reflux and limited movement on her right side from breaking her hip in 4 places about 4 years ago. Her doctor was encouraging her to lose weight with diet and exercise. We decided to do this program together because it would be helpful to her... Continue reading

Svelte Brides!! This is a must read. whenever I've felt myself slipping, its when I don't have food at home that's easy to prepare, fresh, etc. My fiance and I now buy MORE salad items than we might need because I'd rather they go bad than not have any. To stay on track for wedding weight loss, here's another tip- we use a large glass container/bowl (with a plastic lid, found at crate and barrel) to make a large salad with spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, cilantro, chives, and almonds slivers. It takes about 5 minutes to make, seriously. It then... Continue reading

Hello Sveltebrides! Vitamin D will be the Vitamin of the Decade, mark my words. Every day more and more research reveals its multiple critical roles in our health. If you recall Svelte Brides recommends taking at LEAST 2000IU/day of Vitamin to stabilize blood sugar, but in fact many people may need up to 6000IU/day. You can request a blood test from your doctor; sufficient levels are above 30, but ideal is between 50-100. Anyway, here is more evidence of Vitamin D's importance: (and might this not affect endurance, and muscle mass, as well, both of which increase metabolism?? Hmmmm...) Insufficient... Continue reading

SW is a 39 year old mother of 3 who wanted to lose approximately 30lbs. She started the Reset Program about mid August after seeing the how much I had slimmed down. (I'd lost about 13 lbs.) SW had been seeing her alternative healthcare practitioner with mixed results; some things had been helpful but he kept just adding on supplements and enzymes when things weren't going well. He told SW he suspected she had an underlying difficulty absorbing nutrients (hence the enzymes) and that's what he suspected was causing her to hold onto excess weight. Whether or not his suspicions... Continue reading

Svelte Bride notes: Good article for meal and snack suggestions, with the caveat that you should never drink juice, period. It spikes your blood sugar. (That's why they give it to diabetics when their blood sugar suddenly goes too low-orange juice works faster than almost any other substance!) Eat the whole fruit instead and drink water. Svelte Bride recommends Nutrimeal shakes for this very reason-high protein, high fiber! Basing your diet around sources of lean protein and fiber is a tasty way to create a healthy meal plan. Consider biting into a succulent chopped pear salsa atop a dollop of... Continue reading

Svelte Bride Notes/summary: Large, 10yr longitudinal study finds weight benefits with vitamins B6 and B12, and chromium. Svelte Bride's Reset Plan contains all 3, and double the amount of chromium mentioned in the study(150mcg-our plan has 300mcg daily). Besides being a source of information about calcium, vitamin D, and weight gain, the Vitamins and Lifestyle (VITAL) study yielded other data on dietary supplements. In the VITAL study, 15,655 men and women completed questionnaires about their 10-year use of supplements, dietary and health habits, height, former body weights, and present weight. via drtorihudson.com Continue reading

Svelte Brides- here's a great article on polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS- a common cause of weight gain. This is written by a naturopath, and many of the herbal treatment remedies she discusses can be tailored to your svelte bride program. Even the most basic svelte bride plan would help with this syndrome, but we can also optimize even more in your free consultation. If you want to lose weight before your wedding day and are having trouble, it is important to learn all you can about common causes of weight gain in women. As I've said many times, it... Svelte Bride note: Dr McNamara's website is a great resource for nutrition, supplements, medical issues and weight management. He is also entertaining! I suggest spending some time on his site to educate yourself on supplements in general. Dr M, an OB/GYN, now uses ONLY Usana products in his private practice. Please keep in mind that in order to receive any svelte bride promotions you must order through this website!:-) Not long ago, widespread interest was ignited by studies that reported associations between antioxidants and reduction in death from heart disease, stroke, and cancer. Interest continued to increase as even larger... Continue reading

Although everyone should consult with their own physician before embarking on a nutritional supplement program, the following multi-vitamin/antioxidant, multi-mineral, and omega-3 fatty acids should be considered essential for health maintenance. Most of these nutrients are consoidated into combination supplements that should be divided at least twice per day. For example, below are examples of what may be found, with a safe daily range of optimal dosing to consider. via www.laddmcnamara.com Listing of what your multivitamin/antioxidant/mineral should look like! Dr Ray Strand is a nutritional medicine expert and founder of the Healthy For Life program. (The Svelte Bride program is loosely modeled after this plan, but is geared more towards women.) Keep this list handy as a guide, especially if you are just learning how to eat in a low glycemic manner. I usually email this list to clients as a shopping list. If you start The Reset program (endorsed by Dr Strand), it is a good idea to buy the recommended items and GET RID OF the bad stuff BEFORE you start the Reset. Planning is key to... Continue reading
