How does one walk a Ladybug? You put a leash around the white fluffy neck of an eight pound Papillion little girl dog. We are exploring the California desert where I live six months a year with my husband Kip. Jewel's Jewels will be thoughts handed down from my mother and our fore mothers. Being from a long linage of pre-American Revolution strong pioneer women I am aware of the insight, health practices, food traditions and wisdom from which I have benefited. This category emerges not only to honor my late mother, Jewel Essary Rich, but to pass along cherished information. Jewel was born in Texas in 1919 and raised in New Mexico most of her life. I am sitting next to our daughter Kristin Espinasse our celebrated author of seven books (Simon and Schuster) who is helping me to begin my experience with a personal blog.
