This was the first inspiration shoot I'd done with EA Bridal Magazine. It was for their Winter 2012/2013 issue, and they hold the images for 3 months, so I'm just now able to share with you guys. So what if it's winter themed right? We had a wonderful team, and I'm so excited to post these pics. We shot at River Market Event Place, one of my favorite spots because of the amazing natural light in the space. Kristen of rak design helped style, and the whole thing was captured by Jana Marler of Jana Marie Photography. Beautiful dresses were... Continue reading

Kelli is pretty adorable. Everytime we met, she was nothing but smiles and a total joy to work with. I'd never worked at the Stony Point Hall before, it was quite a ways away, but such a fun and unique venue. She and Nathan were lucky enough to have a gorgeous September day for their outdoor ceremony. With ivories, greens, and bright pops of cobalt blue her flowers were colorful, and and classic all at the same time. Lovely pictures by epaga foto, and emmy-ray. To make Kelli's bouquet special it was the only one we added bright blue delphinium... Continue reading

Carissa and Todd's wedding was a true collaboration. When I showed up to our first consult Carissa's mom, Dana, had already collected all the vases for the tables. Talk about prepared! Their event was taking place at the newly remodeled Elms Hotel, in Excelsior Springs. A beautiful historic spot, with an outdoor space for the ceremony. Unfortunately it was rainy and humid on the first day of September, but we made due in the ballroom with a beautiful ceremony (all the decor for the ceremony was created by Dana). We were really happy with how everything turned out, and Carissa... Continue reading

R is for ranunculus, one of my favorite flowers. They're a spring bloom if you want to grow them here in the midwest, but are pretty much available year round. They come in a beautiful range of colors including white, yellow, orange, salmon, coral, pink, red, and dark purple. The beautiful variegated ones are some of my favorites, and they're a flower that I can't just resist buying to put on my table when they're in season. I didn't realize that they are a member of a genus that contains over 600 species, and are even related to the buttercup.... Continue reading

Creating flowers to wear is one of my favorite facets of my job. I started emmy-ray as a jewelry and accessory design business, so taking fresh flowers and making beautiful hair accessories, or jewelry out of them is natural. It's always fun to think outside the box, and it's refreshing in a way to give a different life to such a fleeting, ethereal item. I had a few flowers leftover from Emily and Will's wedding (which I'll be sharing tomorrow), giant, beautiful flowers like cafe au lait dahlias, coral charm peonies, and giant purple allium. What else to do but... Continue reading

Two of my dearest friends had their first baby boy back in October. His name is Watson, and he's just the sweetest little thing. Her mom special ordered an arrangement from me to bring to the hospital, and I was more than happy to oblige. We discussed, and she wanted something that wasn't overly feminine. I thought yellow would be a goood choice, and added some fresh green and lots of textural elements. Special flowers for a special little one! xo - Emily Continue reading

Back in the spring/summer I was approached by Perfect Wedding Guide to do flowers for a luncheon of other wedding professionals. I happily agreed for the opportunity to share some of our work with a room full of Kansas City vendors. To compliment the River Market Event Place I wanted to use grey and white linens, and then bright summery colors. I used our mercury glass vases, and also created some tall arrangements. All in all I'd say they were a fun addition to the space, and were modern and fresh! Thanks so much for having us Perfect Wedding Guide!... Continue reading

My plan was to start of the new year with a bang. Back in the office, ready to work, learn QuickBooks finally, the list goes on. However things came up, as they often do, and that didn't exactly happen. That's alright though, right? I've got so many creative ideas and projects, I'm nearly bursting, but it's finding the time and energy to accomplish them that I sometimes have trouble with. However there's one thing I know for sure, I want to get back to this blog. It's been neglected for way to long, and it was one of my very... Continue reading

2013 is almost here, yikes! Where did this year go? I've been going through all my floral images from this year, and trying to catch up on adding them so everyone can see what kept us so busy this year. I have to say that each and every wedding we worked on was one that I can be proud of, and it's a good feeling. So much loveliness, and I can't take credit for it all, I've had some wonderful brides and grooms to collaborate with this year. Erin was one of those brides. When we met I felt like... There's so much that I can say about Kristen and Luke's day, but I think it's pretty clear from all their pictures just how wonderful they are. It's always a great feeling when you book a client who you, for lack of a better word, gel with. Kristen's vision for the day was vintage, eclectic, soft, and romantic, just our style. I can't take all the credit for how amazing it turned out either. I loved the beautiful mint green bridesmaids dresses, and all the pieces of china that she collected for the arragements, and for every guests place setting.... Continue reading

Heather and Mark are a classic couple. Heather's vision was a beautiful romantic event, with touches of metallic silver. The flowers for their day couldn't have come in more perfect, fluffy white hydrangeas, soft ruffled peach garden roses, and those coral peonies? Amazing (but I can't take any credit for that), and I loved the contrast between the soft brides bouquet, and the bold bridesmaids bouquets. We created a HUGE statement arrangement for the escort card, definitely our largest to date. Thank you so much for letting us be part of your day guys, and thanks to C. Lynne Photography... I'm not hosting Thanksgivign this year, but it doesn't mean my mind isn't running rampant with lots of fun ideas for what I would do to decorate our table. I've been sharing a few of them around the internets. They're super duper easy (like anyone can do them), and look like you spent hours and hours on them. It's all about groupings of simple to make items, which is key if you're busy cooking a Thanksgiving feast. Pop on over and check them out! Here's the Fall Leaves Vases that I shared over on White Table Style. And the super... Continue reading
