On my way out the door Connor asked me to pick a "pumpkin pie pumpkin" up at the farmers' market. First off kudos on another fine book! I have to say, of the "Keller" books, Ad Hoc is shaping up to be one I will cook from the most. The fact that I have been hoping that this cookbook would come out since I first dined at Ad Hoc a few years ago doesn't hurt. My wife thinks I'm crazy but as usual I have read it cover to cover and gleaned a lot of great ideas that I have already started to use in my cooking. In addition I have had great success with the recipes I have tried including crispy braised chicken thighs (yum!), green bean and potato salad (sachet in the potato water!), and of course chocolate chip cookies. In fact the cookies inspired me to finally start my own blog (we'll see if I can keep it up) about cooking, especially cooking with my kids. Thanks for another wonderful book!

After some chatting she ended up wanting to make cookies but the pie came back up so here it is. This time around Connor joined us. I have to say trying to make a video with the two of them was a bit tricky. I think I may have to keep it to one at a time. I did try to improve the production with an inexpensive "work light" from OSH... Continue reading
