Hooray! I am no longer a sad panda.
in which another secret is revealed...
Spoiler alert: If this interests you, you really want to listen to Radio Free Burrito Episode 28.
I hope your secret project is filming the new season of the Guild. If not I will be One. Sad. Panda.
From the Vault: "Foster is down!"
Today is the first day in a week that I didn't get up at 4am to go to work. I really wish I could say what I've been working on, because it's awesome, but I have to keep that information in a secure location for at least a few more days. It was pretty great that I got to sleep late - I rolled ou...
You would think it would be great to have two geeky types in the house, but sadly it also means fighting over who gets to play Dragon Age tonight. (Me.)
It turns out I had a fairly geeky weekend
In an effort to force myself out of this non-creative, unmotivated funk I've been in post-Eureka, I now commence a braindump from this weekend: I pressed the plunger down on my coffee press and tried to clear the sleep from my eyes while Anne put the orange juice back into the fridge. The mornin...
While wandering through the Classic Console Freeplay room we found a couple of youngsters playing E.T. A bunch of people were gathered around them, cheering them on as they fell into the pit once...twice...thrice...etc. Lots of laughter (with them) ensued.
the most beguiling, horrible, opposite-of-fun experience I'd ever had
Reader G.M. e-mailed this picture and said, "How the f**k I ever believed that THIS was E.T., I'll never know -- but I still played it for hours and hours." The picture unlocked a memory I haven't thought about in a long time, but wanted to share: Around 1982 or 1983, before City Walk at Un...
Thanks for the great keynote-lots of laughs and memories. I wrote a little bit about it here, if you are interested: PAXEastern
Also, we totally did a bad thing and left you a sharpie note on the signing table about this gentleman we met who was trying to impress a girl back home with a WW autograph...I hope he got to meet you and romance ensued.
in which wil feels homesick
One of the themes of my PAX keynote was Welcome Home, which everyone who had been to a PAX before could understand. For the first timers, though, I wanted to help them understand exactly why it is we say that, so I said: All of the things that make us weird and strange in the real world? Those ...
Whenever I am in Vancouver (often), I make it a point to visit Granville Island. Beautiful little artist community with lots of shops and eateries.
Last time I was there I saw Evil Dead: The Musical, but I am sure that is just a Halloween event (sadly).
Downtown on Friday/Saturday is wild, it's great to just walk up and down the main drag (Haines?) and head down to Canada Place Pier-be sure to bring your PAXEast scarf. Brrr.
Eureka: all the rage - day zero
Greetings from Vancouver, where I sit high above the city, looking out over a balcony, through a sliding glass door that I dare not open, because single digit temperatures in Celsius are just as cold as their Fahrenheit cousins. If you're joining the broadcast late, I'm here for an episode of Eu...
<3 the Carcassonne cupcake.
This is, without a doubt, the coolest thing I've seen all year
Reader Robin Got Excited and Made 100 cupcakes. I know what you're thinking: "Well, that's a lot of cupcakes, but so what?" Well, doubtful-person-I-just-invented, let me tell you what: each cupcake depicts a different board or video game, and she put them all up on a website where you can ident...
