Hi Leslie. I'm glad you liked my photo's enough to take time to comment on them - I really appreciate it! I consider that some of the work that I produce could be considered fine art, but I mainly just say that I am a photographer. I'm not sure why you want my opinion on other photographer's work. Photography, like all art, is very subjective. What you consider an excellent photograph, I may not rate at all - and vice versa. I had a look at the link you provided and their photographs are not to my taste, but if you like them then that's great! I'm not sure if you're aware, but I stopped posting on my typepad blog and moved to wordpress - sarphotography.wordpress.com I also started a new blog last month where I post a new photo every day - 24hourphoto.wordpress.com And then there is my proper website - www.sar-photography.com All the best Simon

I have always liked animals and remember as a young boy going up to the local vet clinic after school. My mum worked there as a part time vet nurse and receptionist. I’d go into the kennel room to see the animals were in and ask the vet what they... Continue reading

Today our cat Willow was hit by a car and killed. I found her on the verge across the road. She was already dead. She is now buried at the top of our garden. Willow brought a lot of joy and laughter into our house and was a great companion.... Continue reading

I live in a rural part of south west Scotland and every now and then I suffer from city withdrawal. Even though I live in a rural area I am fortunate that a city is not that far away - Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle-upon-Tyne are all about 2 hours away... Continue reading

Last year while working in Edinburgh I bought a copy of ‘On Reading’ by Andre Kertesz from Beyond Words. It is a lovely little book that chronicles Kertesz’s life long project of making photographs around the theme of reading. Having read the book I started to see people reading everywhere....
