Kris, Im sorry you didnt have success. You are right the water will not dissolve the salt and the dough is slightly grainy but it dries smooth and sparkly. I hope you have better luck next time, Id love to know if table salt works better for you. - Carla
I just wanted to pop in and wish you all a very Merry Everything and the Happiest of New Years. I might sneak a few personal posts in before 2015 but in general I plan to slow down, unplug, and savor the season. I hope you have a joyous holiday.... Continue reading

When I found out I would be receiving a Sprout as part of my partnership with HP, I was super excited, and then a little stumped as to where to put it. As I've mentioned before, we live in a very small (+ friendly) house, like less than 1000 sq... Continue reading

Not only do I have the best salt dough recipe to share, but I've got a super simple idea for the perfect ornament to gift relatives. Did I mention they cost next to nothing? You've still got plenty of time to whip these up and it's a fun way to... Continue reading

This came out so beautiful! I love it! I really need to get one on those wood burning tools!
I've been known to wrap presents in brown paper from grocery bags, my toddler's scribbles, and gift bags that have been used no less than ten times. But this year I found myself longing for wrapping that would be as exciting as the gift. And yet, who wants to blow... Continue reading

I had a good cry over this post. Likely due to me being knee deep in sleeplessness nights and preschool shuffling but my oh my that plank! I better get started on these rolls, I'm hoping with enough winners they will return home often and maybe even call their mom every once in a while.

It's that time again! Everyone's making lists and checking them twice. And since I'm always looking for good recommendations for affordable, high quality toys I wanted to share what was most loved by Jude this past year. Below are our very favorite toys for four to five year olds, plus... Continue reading

Fall is my very favorite season. I love the crisp air, the bright blue sky, the gorgeous colors, and all things pumpkin flavored! I've noticed the internet seems to have already moved on the winter but with Turkey Day over a week away I'm still happily jumping in piles of... Continue reading

Okay so you read that title and thought "Wow! Carla sure has gotten cocky!" And while I am pretty proud of myself, you've got the wrong idea! One of Jude's favorite movies is Epic (affiliate link, I highly recommend this one). So for Halloween he wanted to be Nod, a... Continue reading

Okay remember when I promised a free pattern for the micro shorts? Well I finally got around to it, but since it's no longer shorts weather in the northern hemisphere, I decided to make a pattern that can be shorts or leggings! (In case you're wondering, this is were all... Continue reading

I had the pleasure of working with the DIY Network to create tutorials for four awesome handmade Halloween costumes for dogs. My parent's fabulous pugs acted as my muses and models. I love how they turned out, but I've got to say getting these final shots was a serious workout!... Continue reading

Recently we had a chance to review some products from The Honest Company. I asked Jude for his honest opinion, want to know what he (and I) thought? First up, Jude loves to help me clean (I know, I hope he doesn't wise up soon!) so we tried out the... Continue reading

I know it's extremely cliche, but holy smokes do they grow up too fast! And with baby number two the rate of growth seems to be exponential. With Jude I remember feeling that crazy mix where the day would pour out before me slower than molasses and the weeks would... Continue reading

Oh thank you so much for these words. As I can tell from the tears they have prompted I really needed them. I just nursed my baby boy to sleep and tucked in my four year old. My heart aches at how quickly they grow, but you have reminded me there is so much to look forward to! Thank you.
