Hi Melissa! Ive been really happy with that machine so far. My leather was quite soft and fairly thin (not sure how it would do with meatier stuff) but with a leather needle it just chugged along no problem, even with the vinyl! The machine comes with a bunch of extra stuff, including a walking foot so thats the one I used. I hope this helps, happy sewing! - Carla

I'm so excited! I figured out how to make leather baby shoes! I adore soft leather baby shoes: they are easy to put on, stay put, don't require socks, and are the next best thing to barefoot for new walkers. Ronan has several pairs of Robeez *, but with my... Continue reading

I didn't have much time to commit to Kids Clothes Week Challenge this winter but the theme was upcycling so I just had to join in. With limited time and zero trips to the fabric store I was able to make Jude a cool new pair of pants; plus pants,... Continue reading

I've got an awesome candy-free valentine idea for you! Better yet, I've created free printables! Alright, if you're a non-procrastinator (AKA nothing like me) you will likely have to pin these for next year, but for the rest of us, there's still plenty of time to print these before Valentine's... You knit2, purl2 for the first 2 inches, this will create the ribbed band and then you straight knit in the round which will create the stockinette stitch. I hope this helps, good luck! - Carla

I so feel you on all counts! Especially the wish for less mess, the shoe string budget, and the baby who doesn't sleep! I am hoping to create more rhythm in our days and weeks. I feel like I waste so much energy just trying to figure out what needs to be done (and in what order) each day. Wishing you luck and please don't feel guilty for being here less, I totally understand, sometimes life gets i the way of blogging. I just posted Christmas pictures if that makes you feel any better.
Wendy, I am so sorry you have been through so much. I am so very glad you are alive! If you can handle coco butter I would try using any oil you can tolerate with it (olive oil maybe?). It wont be as thick and solid but it will moisturize. Also, if you know it doesnt bother you, beeswax can be added to improve the consistency. Good luck and well wishes, Carla
