Im so happy you like them! I often use half coconut oil and I really like them that way! Happy no-baking and nursing!!!
Thanks so much Monica! I really need to get my butt to the sewing machine more often!

Hi Melissa! Ive been really happy with that machine so far. My leather was quite soft and fairly thin (not sure how it would do with meatier stuff) but with a leather needle it just chugged along no problem, even with the vinyl! The machine comes with a bunch of extra stuff, including a walking foot so thats the one I used. I hope this helps, happy sewing! - Carla

I'm so excited! I figured out how to make leather baby shoes! I adore soft leather baby shoes: they are easy to put on, stay put, don't require socks, and are the next best thing to barefoot for new walkers. Ronan has several pairs of Robeez *, but with my... Continue reading

How have I let so many months go by without another brotherly love post? I don't have a great answer, but I am thrilled to report that the love train is still in service. It's true that they are very difficult to photograph together these days; they're basically a big... Continue reading

I didn't have much time to commit to Kids Clothes Week Challenge this winter but the theme was upcycling so I just had to join in. With limited time and zero trips to the fabric store I was able to make Jude a cool new pair of pants; plus pants,... Continue reading

I've got an awesome candy-free valentine idea for you! Better yet, I've created free printables! Alright, if you're a non-procrastinator (AKA nothing like me) you will likely have to pin these for next year, but for the rest of us, there's still plenty of time to print these before Valentine's... You knit2, purl2 for the first 2 inches, this will create the ribbed band and then you straight knit in the round which will create the stockinette stitch. I hope this helps, good luck! - Carla

I love me a bit of seasonal decor, especially with an eager five year old helper. For Valentines Day this year we made these simple heart suncatchers. Easy + Fun + Pretty = My Favorite Kind of Craft! Oil on construction paper creates a gorgeous batik effect when held in... Continue reading

I am so excited to tell you about my latest writing gig. The funny thing is I have never thought of myself as a "writer". Sure I wrote countless college papers and random musings here on my own blog, but I've always thought I was more of a maker than... Continue reading

I so feel you on all counts! Especially the wish for less mess, the shoe string budget, and the baby who doesn't sleep! I am hoping to create more rhythm in our days and weeks. I feel like I waste so much energy just trying to figure out what needs to be done (and in what order) each day. Wishing you luck and please don't feel guilty for being here less, I totally understand, sometimes life gets i the way of blogging. I just posted Christmas pictures if that makes you feel any better.
Wendy, I am so sorry you have been through so much. I am so very glad you are alive! If you can handle coco butter I would try using any oil you can tolerate with it (olive oil maybe?). It wont be as thick and solid but it will moisturize. Also, if you know it doesnt bother you, beeswax can be added to improve the consistency. Good luck and well wishes, Carla

There's something you should know about me: I hate scrapbooking. I haven't even managed to print many pictures in the past few years let alone get them into albums or frames. I would really love to have a physical record of our family but for now this digital space will... Continue reading

I love it! I just cast off a hat intended for my oldest but it was a little tight, I'm so thrilled he has a little brother. Plus, I find hats are finished too quickly of my liking so I'm excited to start a larger one! I look forward to hearing more about your trip to the Northern CA coast.

First of all congrats! For the curling you might have seen them together a bit too tightly, but I wouldnt worry. Once you put those adorable little toes in there they should smooth out and fit fine!

Kris, Im sorry you didnt have success. You are right the water will not dissolve the salt and the dough is slightly grainy but it dries smooth and sparkly. I hope you have better luck next time, Id love to know if table salt works better for you. - Carla
I just wanted to pop in and wish you all a very Merry Everything and the Happiest of New Years. I might sneak a few personal posts in before 2015 but in general I plan to slow down, unplug, and savor the season. I hope you have a joyous holiday.... Continue reading
