Hi Grandma Sheila! Thanks for leaving the first comment on the blog! I'm glad you are enjoying reading and seeing the photos. I'll try to post some of the littlest farm kids soon. Happy gardening!
Where have all the radishes gone?
Don't let the title scare you...we will have plenty of yummy radishes available this summer (if the farm kids don't eat them all first). The thing about kids who participate in growing their own food is...they love to eat it. My son, who claims to dislike just about anything spicy, will munch ...

Spring Update
Happy spring everyone! I've started a blog for the garden. Finally. I've been wanting to do it for years. I'm still working on it, and will be adding more content soon. This first post is a spring update that customers received via the email list. It seemed an appropriate beginning... Continue reading

Thanks Sarah :) I'm glad you're taking some time to enjoy life as well. When is Owen's B-day? Mason just turned 2!
A few words...
Hello there. It's a been a while since I've posted in this space, so I thought I'd write a few words of explanation...for myself and everyone who stops by to read. This summer has been a busy one, and while I'm normally a pretty grounded person I've found myself a little too overwhelmed a littl...
Chad! Thanks so much, and I would LOVE to see you when your here!
Moments of Gratitude
Instead of the usual Friday "This Moment" post, I thought I'd do something a little different. As I was washing produce this morning, harvested for the market tomorrow, I was struck by feelings of gratitude for some of the small things that were a part of my morning...and a few big ones too...
Thanks Tricia! I'm glad it made you smile too :)

Thanks so much for posting! I immediately had to make the sandwich for my little guy as he makes sandwiches all the time from anything and everything. I'm sure I'll make the fairy house sometime too!
I'm loving felted woollen jumpers
I think I've found a new obsession... making toys from felted pre-loved woollen jumpers. I've also been using pre-loved fleece jumpers as they are easy to find in lots of different colours. The fairy house and sandwich were gifts for two of Little Eco's friends. The ...
No problem! I was thinking of trying the recipe for laundry powder from Soule Mama's blog soon...but it does have borax.

Let me know what you find!
Homemade Laundry Soap
I began making my own laundry soap a few months ago, and I'll never go back to store bought! Our clothes are cleaner, softer, and smell nice and fresh, plus I'm saving money. I needed to make a new batch today, so I thought it would be a great thing to share here. The recipe I use is not exact:...
Thanks Kim!
For Aaron
Aaron, Three years ago today, surrounded by our community of friends and family, we stood together in a circle of love and expressed our intention to commit ourselves to one another as life partners. It was one of the most magical days of my life, a day I will never forget...blue skies, wa...
Great idea! We love kale chips...I'll have to try beet leaves next...
Beetroot leaf chips
Sunday night is roast night in our household. But our roast is a little different to the typical Sunday roast. I raid the fridge for any vegetables that need to be used up and do a big vege roast. Last Sunday I baked pumpkin, kohlrabi and beetroot and made a delicious roast vege and chickpea sal...
I absolutely love that dress and those photos!
a traveling dress
I was able to make "Loula" a dress today. A dress for traveling. We leave in one week and I hope to get a few more clothes sewn before then. This little dress was made from a vintage pinafore pattern and some vintage calico fabric that I found at the thrift. The pattern envelope said size 2, bu...
It's amazing how your posts seem to match up with exactly how I'm feeling at the moment...thanks so much for sharing!
And the Schedule Crumbles.
Summer has an amazing power over me. My normally organized daily and weekly rhythm falls apart completely. It unravels into a tangle of hours spent who-knows-where doing who-knows-what until I glance up at the clock to realize that it's dinner time and I'm looking at a raw chicken. I forget to w...
So fun to see these photos of fishing time...my husband just started fishing and I can just picture Mason holding up his own fish in a few years.
Weekend Adventures
Thanks for your patience while I stayed away from this space for a couple of days this weekend. I'm trying to get clear on when I'm working on my business, when I'm writing (here and elsewhere), and when my time is spent simply being present with my kids and Pete. It's so good having many wonder...
Kyndale, thanks for stopping by! You have such a fun blog!
Line drying
I love drying our laundry on the line. Love it. I love the act of taking clothes, diapers and linens, wet and clean-smelling from the wash and hanging them up. I love the way they look while drying in the sun. I love how quickly they dry when a valley wind is blowing. I love the way they sm...
Sarah, I can't wait to meet your little guy one of these days...watching them grow is like having your heart melt constantly isn't it?

Father's Day
As I look out of the window this morning I see Aaron and Mason walking around the yard together. Sometimes Mason reaches up for his hand, sometimes he wants to do it "all by himself". As I watch them walk around the yard together, exploring, doing morning chores and checking out new growth,...
Ah yes, these sweet boys often make my heart just melt...

Thanks for posting this...I'm re-inspired to make more popcorn! We love to sprinkle on some brewer's yeast...yum. I very much enjoy your blog!
While I’m on the topic of popcorn…
…I’d thought I’d share my love for this versatile, healthy and economical pantry staple. We always have popcorn in the pantry. We buy it in bulk in lovely reuseable calico bags, storing some in a jar and topping up when needed from a bag stored in the bulk storage bins that live in the botto...
Thanks Tricia! I like the way the colors turned out as well, and it is lovely stuff! Thanks so much for reading!
Homemade Play Dough
We made homemade play dough a few days ago for the first time and we're having so much fun with it! It's so simple to make, and it's only been a few days, but it hasn't dried out yet. We used one of the simpler recipes inspired by the Super Baby Food book (there are so many play dough recipes ...

Gorgeous! I can't wait to learn to spin...your blog is so inspiring!
A Give Away!
Today as I was finishing spinning up a skein, I realized that this farmama blog is a year old. It was last June that I began it. One whole year. Amazing how fast time slips by. I've had a lot of fun sharing with you all, and I've learned so much along the way. I thought I'd give away this skein...
