Interests: I picked up knitting again seven years ago when I moved to Bielefeld to start a new job. Since then I have tried to learn new tecniques and to design. I'm starting this blog now because I enjoy reading other knitter's blogs which is always inspiring and encouraging. I'm surfchick on ravelry. I like looking for patterns there and exploring other knitters project but I miss the functions of a blog there. Apart from knitting I enjoy travelling, sports on boards on the water, reading, my balcony garden and my 2010 project " one new recipe per week". In 2012 I moved to a totally different country where I mainly need summer knits :) new challenges!

Today we finally started our knit-a-long aka cowl-a-long! My friend and I are knitting cowls together with wool I bought in Germany last year for exactly this pupose. The yarn is Mirasol K'acha, a Merino-Alpaca-Silk blend in purple and blue. I have used it before for my Rae scarf. I'm... Continue reading

Just a short update on what I'm knitting! I'm making good progress on the dragonfly pullover. Knitting at least two rows a day adds up! :) This doesn't do the colour justice. We actually have a pretty overcast day in Brisbane! So far so happy :) Continue reading

Better later then never! Here is my finished line break shawl! yarn: Cascade Heritage Silk pattern: Line Break by Veera Vaelimaeki This was a rather quick knit. The short rows let this grow quickly and it is easy to adjust the size to the amount of yarn one has. I... Continue reading

Look what arrived on my dorrstep today! (sorry it's upside down) This is one of my challenges for 2013. It is a the Sheep Carousel teacosy by Kate Davies. I will learn some new techniques with this: steeks, vikkel braids, corrugated ribbing and centred double decreases. The package includes enough... Continue reading

Update on granny squares! I have now 13! Look at them together: BIG LIKE! Everybody seems to like granny squares. For this I am using Moda Vera Pure Wool 8 ply from Spotlight. I went back to buy enough for 100 squares and added a couple more colours. At some... Continue reading

I mentioned the thick book I'm reading. While I love having a good read and getting totally stuck in a book I always feel like I don't do anything useful while being absorbed. It is really cool to read a book and pop out some finished knitting at the end. Stockinette... Continue reading

Off topic! What kept me busy for a few weeks was this: I sewed a queen sized quilt! Around here it is often too warm for a duvet but slightly too cool for just sheets so we needed a proper quilt. I used a deisgn from the Quilting Bee book.... Continue reading

Oh dear, it has been a long time since I posted here! I seem to have a rythm of posting lots and then weeks of nothing. My excuse is that my camera got stolen with pictures from the last finished project (baby package - Niko if you send me a... Continue reading

After I finished the bag I was ready to cast on something new! I had the pattern, the wool but I still had to swatch. The wool is Cascade Heritage Silk in a lovely blue. This is a Merino superwash-silk blend. It seems quite slippery on the needles but feels... Continue reading

This is where I broke my promise to the market bag! Finally after years of wanting one I started a granny square blanket! And it will probably take years to finish! :) I'm not the biggest fan of crochet. I only use it for flowers and such. I don't think... Continue reading

Finally yesterday I finished this! I persevered and tried not to start any other project while knitting this. Almost stuck to that... I like how the lace pattern shows up over the lining! It turned out longer then I expected. With stuff in it it stretched alot! Which I expected.... Continue reading

I've seen this on Gudrun's blog and really like some of the designs. Would be a great addition to my knitting library ;)

Last night I went to knit night. Knit night is always nice because I get to chat knitting, look at other peoples knits, browse the magazines and touch lovely yarns. The problem is the touching yarn. Most nights I manage to be good and just touch but sometimes ... like... Continue reading

The other week-end the remnants of a cyclon came through here. It was bad timing because it was a long week-end as well and we were going to go camping. Had to cancel that :( What do you do on rainy days? Hang out, watch movies, eat good food, listen... Continue reading

I have to share this library find! It is a little retro book and shame on me it is CROCHET! I know someone who has "learn to crochet" on her 2013 list and when I saw this book my first thought was to crochet along and finally make a granny... Continue reading

My current WIP is this: The third attempt at using this stash yarn for a summer top. The first attempt was the top-down Buttercup pattern where I quickly realized I wouldn't have enough. Then I started from the bottom with the waves pattern. Sure enough I didn't get my math... Continue reading

Now that I wrapped up 2012 I can think about knitting plans/goals for 2013! This is what I came up with: * learn steeks * knit a dressy cardigan * more summery knits I won't set a goal of number of knits like so many others do because I'm not... Continue reading

I think I didn't post this because I have no outdoor action shots. Looking good from the top... ... but rather small from the side! Maybe it needs some wear? It was a pain to knit I think I posted that before! Look at those charts and all the bobbles... Continue reading

I finally crafted this last week! I saw something similar in a crafting magazine last year but with painted stripes. The driftwood had already been lying around the deck for a while. All I needed was to sit down and do it. I got some scraps of wool out and... Continue reading

Before totally frogging it I made a picture of the failure. Here you see the lattice top on top of my white summer top I made last year. Clearly there is quite a bit of body missing. Also I'm not happy with the yarn wheight. It is too thick for... Continue reading
