Charlie Crist vs An Empty Podium The second debate between Rick Scott and Charlie Crist just ended, and the most that anyone will remember is the empty podium beside Crist, after Rick Scott said he refused to participate in the debate because Charlie Crist had a fan under his podium.... Crist vs Scott, Round One Last week, during the first debate between Charlie Crist and Rick Scott, Scott demonstrated that he had little to offer his Hispanic audience beyond saying he loves families and that, as a poor child growing up he could relate to them (yes, really), that he... RE: James M. Ray Journalism means asking questions, which I did. I also never got any answers from the candidates or the media in question. To merely "speculate" that the libertarian candidate would never restrict debate (your words) without asking the question would be partisan. The stupid's in your court.
That was one of two big takeaways from tonight's Attorney General debate, which voters not living in the Tampa Bay and Orlando area were blocked from seeing. Given Bondi's performance, it's no wonder she's afraid to participate in more than one debate. When Geroge Sheldon, her Democratic opponent, said the... Continue reading

What's Pam Bondi Afraid Of? If you haven't been paying attention to the Florida Attorney General race, you had better pay attention and look quick. AG Pam Bondi (R-ick Scott's Lawyer) will only agree to one debate with her opponents, Democrat George Sheldon and Libertarian Bill Wohlsifer, and few in... Continue reading

RE: Orlando: Which will actually help split the vote, be virtually meaningless, and solve nothing, because that choice is actually a vote for Scott or Crist.

Despite the GOP's constant parroting that Obamacare would be, or is, a "train wreck," the facts prove time and again that it's doing just fine. In Florida, as of June, 866,485 enrolled in health care plans under the Affordable Care Act, and that number is predicted to reach 1.1 million... Continue reading

Charlie Crist, Speaking With The Media During The 2010 BP Oil Spill (Photo: Martha Jackovics) Regular readers of this blog are no doubt aware that I haven't always agreed with Charlie Crist in the past. When he was governor I didn't like everything he did, but I gave him credit... Continue reading

I'm still on a semi-hiatus this week, but there's still plenty going on in Florida politics right now. If you're itching to fight back against Rick Scott and the other Republicans in Florida there's a blogger, activist meetup taking place this weekend in Inverness with like-minded grassroots folks and Democratic... Rick Scott's former company practiced Medicare fraud. He refuses to expand Medicaid and has thrown up roadblocks against affordable health insurance for Floridians. The thought of paying Floridians a minimum wage makes him "cringe." But having a blind trust that invests in projects he signs off on like this one?... Continue reading

A Pipeline To Profits As he said when asked for his views on climate change and what to do about it, Rick Scott responded by saying he's "not a scientist." Well, he's not a scientist, he's an investor. That may be another reason he's not interested in doing anything about... Continue reading

I'm still on a semi-hiatus here due to ongoing moving preparations so my blogging has been spotty. It's been tough not being able to blog when Rick Scott's campaign seems to be on the verge of an implosion, but his past, as well as his present in being perhaps the... Continue reading

Last week Rick Scott went on what he called his "Keep Florida Safe" tour in an attempt to appear tough on crime. He "invited" members of law enforcement to appear at his campaign events, but many of them said they were led to believe it was for official business and... Continue reading

It's been a bad week for Rick Scott, and it's only getting worse. In a move reminiscent of Mitt Romney's famous 2012 photo-op, when he used coal miners as campaign props who weren't paid for their time as anti-environmental, pro-coal human shields, Scott set out on another one of his... Are you the same Joe Kreps quoted in the article linked below? Because if so, it sounds like you would vote for Crist, nonetheless: "Joe Kreps stood nearby holding a "Nan Rich" campaign sign and saying he would have to "hold his nose" to vote for Crist if he wins the nomination." http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/stateroundup/bill-clinton-fires-up-florida-democrats-who-face-big-election-year/2186430
Rick Scott has spent millions on campaign ads already in return for little in the polls. Today the Crist campaign launched his first television ad focusing on his support of the middle class, education, cutting property taxes, minimum wage, and equal pay for women. @BeachPeanuts Related articles "Galactically Stupid" The... Liza, with all due respect, you're misinformed. The only people benefitting from Scott's tax cuts are the rich and large corporations, and the only government workers raking it in are those working directly under Scott at six figures. You're also commenting on a three year old post. Try reading more up to date ones, they'll give you the information you apparently aren't aware of. Thanks for reading and commenting.

A Governor With A Lot To Hide? Back in 2011 when Rick Scott named Herschel Vinyard as Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection, it was in part due to what Scott said was his expertise in the permitting process between businesses and environmental concerns. Vinyard had been director of... Continue reading

Rick Scott signed yet another controversial abortion bill into law last week, no doubt a gift to conservative and so-called "pro-life" voters that he hopes will flock to the polls for him in November: House Bill 1047 bans abortions once a fetus is considered viable, which is typically at 23... Yesterday Rick Scott signed Senate Bill 1030, or Charlotte's Web, into law. The law allows the use of a certain strain of medical marijuana to treat cases of epilepsy and a few other diseases. Legislators were at first reluctant over the bill. The GOP fought to keep a medical marijuana... Continue reading
