Ever since their IPO, I have noticed a fury of “please connect” requests in LinkedIn. Are Street analysts asking your employees to connect? Do your employees know who they are? Make sure they do. As we are all aware, analysts are looking for any insider info, as nuanced as it may seem. Your employees are talking about work in Social Media and you cannot do a damn thing about it. In case you have not noticed, the SEC seems to have kicked it up a notch in regards to watching small firms and small insiders. In fact, both the SEC and FINRA have presented at our RetailInvestorConferences.com events with FINRA presenting on fighting fraud just last week. Wow. The stat below saddens me. Employees don’t trust management. So why should retail investors? The SOX whistleblower regulation has several security checks to guarantee employee privacy and anonymity, however the report below clearly shows that employees do not trust their management (nor the Board) there will be not retribution. Companies should consider this a symptom of how they treat individual investors. All the effort is on institutions. Show some effort to Main Street.
