Gordon Edes wrote a great article early this morning about the Red Sox making their fans queasy with the playoffs approaching. I am not suggesting there are not concerns, but I think Gordon should get himself checked for a bad case of the flu, because I don't share his queasiness.... Continue reading

It seems to have become common knowledge that pitching wins championships. The Yankees learned this lesson the hard way in 2001-2008. The Rangers learned it against the Giants in 2010 as well. The Phillies went the extra mile to sign Cliff Lee because they knew it would give them an... Continue reading

So just how valuable has David Ortiz been to the Red Sox this year? Adrian Gonzalez went 0-9 with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts against the Tampa Bay Rays. From watching him, he appeared quite behind on the David Price fastball. Kevin Youkilis went just 1-6 with a walk in... Continue reading

The Boston Red Sox were able to take just 1 of 2 in the double-header against the Rays yesterday, and allowed the dreaded Yankees to slip their way back into first, half a game up on the Sox.. The starting pitching was very strong with Lester and Bedard only allowing... Continue reading

The Boston Red Sox have made a habit of making the MVP discussions interesting when they get involved. In 2008, when Dustin Pedroia took home the award, there were many people seemingly including Dusty himself who felt Kevin Youkilis could have easily been named MVP over him. Youk had him... Thank you to all those who recently joined the masses on Facebook and Twitter! It's great interacting with you all and anyone who hasn't found us, please click the links above! The last game played against the Yankees, was the 688th consecutive sellout at Fenway Park. As the march toward... Continue reading

The 2011 season began so balanced, that it looked like there would be 10+ teams in wild card contention as late as the All-Star break. The trade market started slow because teams as recently as 2-3 weeks ago, could not tell if they should be buyers or sellers. The Mariners... Continue reading

Well Patriots pre-season gets underway tonight and the fair weather fans stop caring about baseball and move onto football. Such is the way of America the last 20 years or so. But in fact, this is the best time for baseball, because all the real fans are getting excited and... Continue reading

This has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It's basically a roast of Dustin Pedroia. I don't know how I missed this. Continue reading

There has been a lot of talk about CBA's with the recent strikes. Baseball is not having the same struggles, but many would like to make some changes. The Yankees/Red Sox thing has gotten a little stale in many peoples' opinions with 18 meetings each season. Both teams make the... Continue reading

Both the Red Sox and David Ortiz will have an argument when contract negotiations finally do take place after the season. The Sox are not known for opening the checkbook when resigning veteran superstars. They traded Nomar when he became a nuisance over his feelings of disrespect. They traded Manny... Continue reading

I'm not 100% sure if this article from Masslive is accurate, but if it is Dustin Pedroia may have pulled off one of the best pranks in MLB history. Upset already about the scorers taking away his RBI, Pedroia decided to raise the stakes a little bit by telling Ortiz... Continue reading

Kevin Youkilis has never been about the money. He is set for life already and doesn't play the game like he is worried about his next contract. He dives for every ball. He takes the inside pitch against his spine (almost 80 times). He dives headfirst into bases after losing... Continue reading

David Ortiz was hitting .304 going into the All-Star Weekend, and saw his average decline all the way into the .280's as recently as yesterday morning. That average is back to .295 after a 4-5 performance including a home run, that followed a 2-4 performance (with a walk) including a... Continue reading

David Ortiz is apparantly not happy about the lack of extension talks. Originally reported by Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com, Zach Links relayed the message on MLBTradeRumors.com. This is why I suggested back in June that the Red Sox avoid the Derek Jeter situation with Ortiz, and get him signed to a 2 or 3 year deal. It really is not that big of a risk for the Sox and they are going to have to overpay more the more they upset him. You can count on David Ortiz for Continue reading

Terry Francona said yesterday to MLB.com that Carl Crawford's drastic early struggles will definitely effect his end of season numbers. Getting over a .300 average, hitting 20 home runs, stealing 60-70 bases, all seem to be improbable tasks for 2011. But that's not going to stop Crawford from putting together... Continue reading

CC Sabathia should be 16-2 with a 1.80-2.00 ERA. Instead, the Red Sox have pounded him to the tune of 0-4, and inflated his ERA to 2.81. The Sox have absolutely handled Sabathia this year and the Yankees in general as they now stand at 9-2 against their rivals. Lackey... Continue reading

Red Sox Report had a great article yesterday about the bests and worsts of July in the Red Sox farm system. The top offensive prospects in July according to John Meoli (who normally represents SoxProspects.com) were: Catcher Ryan Lavarnway of the Pawtucket Red Sox, Outfielder Brandon Jacobs of the Greenville... Tim Wakefield has been everything the Sox have needed him to be and then some. Even though he's had some rough outings lately, 5 of his last 10 starts were quality outings including a 7 inning 1 run performance in Tampa Bay followed up with an 8 inning 3 run... Continue reading
