Forty-wonderful! Happy birthday, hope it is a great year.
playing outside in the rain
It rained pretty much all weekend, but it was still warm, so we tried to get some yard work done. And we did, but there were some moments of tension. It wasn't looking productive until I remembered the scavenger hunt idea I had pinned to a board of mine. I forget to look at my own b...

Oh yes it is quite the roller coaster isnt it? Lots of reaching for being older and being frustrated when it doesnt quite work out. I missed being able to keep up with you on facebook but I ended up closing my account. Love and hugs to Emmit, sweet boy.

at nine
A couple of weeks ago my son turned nine. Nine. This is a big one for me and for him too. The night before his birthday he was tearful. He said he loved being eight so much and he liked being a kid and he was a little sad to grow up. Which is funny isn't it? It seems like my kids ar...

I love the story about Pan, so sweet. I always love talking to my kids on the telephone, they sound so much younger and cute. The boys must have loved their Easter packages, so sweet.
EASTER PACKAGE
What I pulled together, from my many, many musings on the matter. A set of pretty felted eggs from Katie's etsy shop, filled with yogurt-covered cranberries and dried papaya (because these were going through the mail and I didn't want things to get messy, I made...
I love that felt carrot idea. Its so cute, thanks for sharing it!

links and things
Someone is riding their bike without training wheels. It took a while to get to this point, she was reluctant to let them go but now she is whizzing around and it is fun to watch. I made my first pavlova this weekend. It was good but it needed to be in the oven...

LUCKY I AM
I received the prettiest, most thoughtfully composed package that I've ever received. And, of course, it was from Josie. She knew just the way to brighten up a bit of my baby-lonesomeness and school-work-stress. Included: Rifle Paper Co.Botanicals Labels & Stickers Eggw...

Thank you so much Amy! It is really helpful to get some perspective on how to keep the thousands of photos that get taken each year. Also we are all loving Creativebug, so thanks again for the recommendation and nudge to join. My kids keep asking to watch all the videos with me which Im totally overjoyed about and I am hoping at least some of the craftiness is sinking in. Good luck to your mom in her last half of chemo and I really hope your back is feeling better soon. Josie x
new workshop at creativebug—journal of family life
My newest workshop is over at creativebug. This class is a little different than what I have taught before—it's all about /journaling/ record keeping/documenting everday family life in a non-traditional, messy, free-spirited way. It was so fun to do and I sure hope you all dig it. There's a s...
I just watched this video with my two kids (8 and 6) and we all loved it and are inspired to keep a family journal together. It was so neat having them watch it too because they came up with a bunch of their own ideas about things to add to the journal. I have one question (because I am that person that hasn't printed photos for four years!), do you keep separate photo albums as well as your journals, or do you mix everything together?
Thank you!!

Thank you Tamara, I was wondering if making a bed without too many seams might be the answer but yours is even simpler!

cookies and the like
The cookies were a success, the photos don't quite capture the color but they are not at all lurid, a nice soft pink. They are now in the freezer and will get filled with the cream filling the day of, or maybe, before. Leonard and I went for a nice lo...

sweet things from the kitchen
Winter is still with us for another week at least so this weekend we kept cozy in front of the fire and took the dog for a walk in the park. In the wooded part, there was a large frozen shallow pond, the kids played for ages until my son jumped a little too har...
I love these. I want to make one right now. And a giant mushroom too. I used to love paper mache as a kid, I realize now that I have not been doing enough of it. Thanks for the reminder.
newspaper, tape, flour, water, salt, paint
We are learning about pirates and Picasso right now. They seem unrelated, and they are, but Picasso did wear black and white striped sailor shirts. The kids love to mash-up subjects. We are also learning about cheese but more about that later. We have checked out more than one book ...
