Oh lovely long weekend, why did you have to end? Going back to school after the official start to summer seems so unkind. We lolly-gagged, lounged and otherwise noodled around with friends and it was all so much fun. We took a trip to the zoo, had dinosaur's picnics, ate... Continue reading

This weekend was everything it needed to be. We all got the rest we'd been craving so much. I got my vegetable garden in, such as it is. My Mother's Day present was this elevated garden bed. I've overstuffed it with herbs and lettuce, have been watering it constantly and... Continue reading

This was made for a very sweet little two year old who celebrated her birthday a couple of weeks ago. I loved making this set and the book to go with it, so completely rewarding and fun. And look! Just up today, new patterns for Maggie! How exciting. I am... Continue reading

We've used this quilt all winter and how I love it. So warm and cozy and soft. I hand tied it on every other corner where the blocks meet, it took a good long while but I enjoyed it. And now it is spring and I am working on another... Continue reading

It seems strange to post about Easter now, it feels so long ago, but these photos are blocking up any other posting on this blog. I needed to go back and sort through the things I wanted to mention weeks ago but got too busy. Easter eggs made with silk.... Continue reading

Oh yes it is quite the roller coaster isnt it? Lots of reaching for being older and being frustrated when it doesnt quite work out. I missed being able to keep up with you on facebook but I ended up closing my account. Love and hugs to Emmit, sweet boy. x

A couple of weeks ago my son turned nine. Nine. This is a big one for me and for him too. The night before his birthday he was tearful. He said he loved being eight so much and he liked being a kid and he was a little sad to... Continue reading

I love the story about Pan, so sweet. I always love talking to my kids on the telephone, they sound so much younger and cute. The boys must have loved their Easter packages, so sweet.

Someone is riding their bike without training wheels. It took a while to get to this point, she was reluctant to let them go but now she is whizzing around and it is fun to watch. I made my first pavlova this weekend. It was good but it needed to... Continue reading

Spring has been so slow in coming. The sun just peeked out today but otherwise it has been cold and grey. I'm kind of over it now. I've been relentlessly buying flowers to prove that somewhere in the world things do grow. I've been putting up spring and Easter decorations.... Continue reading

There's been a lot of talk of bunnies in the house ever since we bought this little one. She needed a new sleeping bag of course. The older bunny was feeling left out so she got her portrait done by our tiny French artist. The artist works in the unusual... Continue reading

Thank you so much Amy! It is really helpful to get some perspective on how to keep the thousands of photos that get taken each year. Also we are all loving Creativebug, so thanks again for the recommendation and nudge to join. My kids keep asking to watch all the videos with me which Im totally overjoyed about and I am hoping at least some of the craftiness is sinking in. Good luck to your mom in her last half of chemo and I really hope your back is feeling better soon. Josie x

I just watched this video with my two kids (8 and 6) and we all loved it and are inspired to keep a family journal together. It was so neat having them watch it too because they came up with a bunch of their own ideas about things to add to the journal. I have one question (because I am that person that hasn't printed photos for four years!), do you keep separate photo albums as well as your journals, or do you mix everything together? Thank you!!

Thank you Tamara, I was wondering if making a bed without too many seams might be the answer but yours is even simpler! Josie x

I know that spring can't be too far off. It is a little warmer, I have heard birds singing and once I saw some daffodil shoots, but it is still cold here and there is still snow on the ground. I am ready for a change though, ready for some... Continue reading

I love these. I want to make one right now. And a giant mushroom too. I used to love paper mache as a kid, I realize now that I have not been doing enough of it. Thanks for the reminder.

Winter is still with us for another week at least so this weekend we kept cozy in front of the fire and took the dog for a walk in the park. In the wooded part, there was a large frozen shallow pond, the kids played for ages until my son... Continue reading

That was a whole lot of fun. We love Toronto. We ate, we shopped, we swam in the hotel pool and we ate some more. Somewhere in there Andy turned 44. During his birthday dinner my daughter uncharacteristically piped up to our server in a loud voice, "Today, is my... Continue reading
