We've all seen them - those horribly ugly bouquets in the supermarket floral section. They're always there - usually with the same three types of flowers and some greenery stuffed in there. And sure, we'd all LOVE to splash out and hit up a local florist for not-in-season peonies or orchids for the wedding bouquets but sometimes, the only option you have are those ubiquitous supermarket bouquets. Well, fear not budget brides and grooms, I'm here to show you how to make an ugly supermarket arrangement into a lovely wedding bouquet! Continue reading

A lot of you let me know that you really enjoyed my post on making baby food the lazy way. I loved sharing the information and hearing about how y'all were encouraged to make your own baby food. And now... enough time has passed that I'm starting to get questions about feeding a toddler. And since I happen to own have one of those, I decided to record the meals I served her for one week and share them with you. Continue reading

Recently someone asked me for advice on finding the "right" type of shoe for her bridesmaids to wear with a specific style of dress. My answer is that there ARE NO RULES and she should let them wear whatever makes them happy and let's them dance all night. However, I do acknowledge that there are a few styles of footwear and dresses that seem to pair up well with each other. So, here are a few of my suggestions for fabulous pairings for bridesmaid dresses and shoes. Continue reading

This is going to be the final master bathroom update for a little while... because installing the hardware and finishing fixtures means that (save for installing a fart fan and actually decorating) it's D O N E! As a reminder, here’s all the stuff we've conquered on Ye Olde To Do List for the entire master bathroom: Continue reading

For those of you sticking close to your home state for your wedding, you might be interested in maximizing that "homey" feel and incorporating it into your wedding. For an Arizona wedding, I'd start with some local inspiration - specifically, the desert! Be inspired by the gorgeous pinks, yellows, and oranges in those spectacular desert sunrises. Pair with an ombre wedding invitation, striped straws, pink cocktails in Mason jars, lush bouquets of dahlias and roses, and buttery-colored chevron patterned table runners - you've got yourself a stunner of a wedding! Caden, I feel like doing anything with a baby/toddler is a lesson in futility. You'd be better of slamming your hand in a door repeatedly.

Mommy bloggers, as a group, are pretty fucking awesome. These ladies are either incredibly fit and gorgeous SuperMoms or incredibly trendy and organic-loving Hipstermoms or keepin' it real and slightly sweary RealMoms. As a whole however, they make me feel like I am the shittiest Mommy/Blogger ever and here's why: Continue reading

This series will be helping you build your registry piece by piece but with a practical bend. This is the registry round up for you non-cleaning-schedulers, non-deep-clean-every-seasoners, and non-fancy-ass-anythingers. These are the essentials you'll need to get you into your new married life in a sensible fashion. We're talking the bare-bones basics and looking more into investing in good (not great) quality than in hoarding. Check it out: Continue reading

Let me tell you, one of the hardest things about planning my own wedding was trying to write the wedding ceremony. I was not a fan of the traditional vows (I obey no one but myself thankyouverymuch) and really wanted to find something that reflected our concept of what we wanted our relationship to be. If you're in the same boat but looking for alternative vows - well, here ya go! Some wedding vows courtesy of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! Continue reading

A quick and personal post today for y'all. I have been inspired in the past to use my birthday to reflect on myself and create goals to achieve throughout the next year (ala Elise Blaha Cripe). Every year-ish, I create some personal and professional goals that I'd like to achieve. I love the concept of drawing up a huge master list of goals and then trying to work throughout the year to make them happen. And, being a hardcore listmaker, decided to come up with a list of my own - 1 goal for each year of my life. Continue reading

I love winter (hey, I'm from Alaska, I love me some cold). And as we speak, Texas is enjoying some chilly weather in the 20s (which Casa de Crap is NOT built for) which means that I can bust out layers and woolly cuteness for Melanie. Here's a few of my winter favorites: Continue reading
