Today's state wedding inspiration board comes the lovely Jenn Tolbert of Woodlands Bride and features her (and my current) home state, Texas. From Jenn, "The stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas! One thing is for sure, Texans love Texas and the state's rich western roots run deep. My inspiration for this wedding was the red, white and blue of our state flag, mixed with symbols that not toward cowboy culture. A perfect wedding in Texas would take place in a historic stone hall surrounded by wildflowers, followed by a reception of beer and BBQ, and the bride and groom would dance the night away under the stars pausing just to sing their college fight song." Let me tell you, one of the hardest things about planning my own wedding was trying to write the wedding ceremony. I was not a fan of the traditional vows (I obey no one but myself thankyouverymuch) and really wanted to find something that reflected our concept of what we wanted our relationship to be. If you're in the same boat but looking for alternative vows with a more creepy/scary lean - well, here ya go! Some wedding vows - Stephen King style! Continue reading

I was thinking about Tennessee and how to do a wedding theme that tastefully reflected the state and a fall theme just popped into my head (well, that and Jack Daniels...). Inspired by a softer hue of the UT orange, I paired it with browns and a sweet coral to make a sophisticated fall wedding theme. Check out all gorgeous blooms, bits of honey, and wooden table numbers. If you'd love to have a little UT present at your wedding but not scream ORANGE then check out this Tennessee wedding board for more inspiration! Continue reading

The focus of this Jewish-centric registry is to get you what you need to do a little celebrating and a little worshipping. Nothing more. Nothing less. When registering, try to focus on picking out quality items in the middle price range. Anything less will not last or be crappy and frustrate you and anything more is a bit much if all you plan on doing is focusing on a specific holiday and some basic celebrating. Stick with simple colors and materials (solid colors and hardy materials hold up best). Everything on this downloadable (click the image for the PDF!) handbook page is perfect for your holiday/worship needs and ready to 3-hole punch and insert in your wedding binder/planner. There are several hot button issues associated with any wedding and today, we're tackling The No Kids Issue. Specifically, why it's NOT ABOUT YOU if you're invited to a wedding but your kids are not. Here's the deal, I adore kids and we had tons of them at our wedding. But it was easy and totally possible for us to do so. The wedding was at our house, outside, and featured a simple buffet catered by us. Lots of room for the kids to play and run around safely and no dealing with a kid's menu. But other people's weddings aren't like this and many times, their hands are tied on the whole kids at the wedding issue. Here's some real reasons why, if your kids aren't invited to a wedding, it's not personal: Continue reading

I realize that this is a year late but better late than never, right? Last year was Melanie very first Halloween and, since we live in a rural community and I wanted her to be able to trick-or-treat, I organized a street-wide trick-or-treat and hayride. It was all kinds of fun and Melanie loved the chaos (and her Mommy and Daddy luuurved the candy). Wanna see her costume? Here it is... Melanie's First Halloween Costume! Continue reading

I learned #2 from a mom of eight who had a drawer filled with rocks for her boys!
Lorie, click the link and it should take you right to that bra. It's from Target.
"Nomming nipples" is my new favorite thing ever.
I didn't even know this was a thing! Great tip.
G's mom, I made my own template in Photoshop and I'll try to get it cleaned up to share once I order her photobook!
