I loved planning this week's wedding inspiration board since it's from one of my favorite states - Washington! I adore the misty weather and rocky landscapes of this Northwestern state and thought that a wedding near Mt. Rainier would be perfect! Pair all the rough and rustic outdoor elements pops of juicy jewel tones in turquoise and plum. Toss in a few softer touches like lace and wildflowers for the perfect mountain wedding. If you'd love to have a intimate mountainside fete for your wedding then check out this Washington wedding board for more inspiration! Continue reading

The focus of this Thanksgiving registry is to get you what you need to do a little entertaining and a little cooking. Nothing more. Nothing less. When registering, try to focus on picking out quality items in the middle price range. Anything less will not last or be crappy and frustrate you and anything more is a bit much if all you plan on doing is inviting over a few friends to celebrate the holiday and drink some booze while watching football. Today's state wedding inspiration board comes one of my favorites - Chelsea LaVere of Tidewater and Tulle and features her home state of Virginia. From Chelsea, "Inspired by the lovely Virginia state bird, the bold-colored cardinal anchors this classic inspiration board in reds, pinks, and natural elements. Virginia has mountains, fields, beaches, and forests, so it's pretty diverse in its landscape. Because of this, I chose a more classic theme with history-rich traditions and local iconic visuals." But what if you two have totally different tastes when it comes to Thanksgiving fare? How about working together to create a fusion meal? For example, in our house The Boy loves down home Texas BBQ but I enjoy a more traditional herbed turkey. So, I dug up this recipe for grilling your Thanksgiving turkey and serving it with a side of tasty barbecue sauce to please both palates! Continue reading

One of the major things that has driven our focus during this endless remodel has been the fact that this is not our forever home. While we love the acreage and our neighbors (which include my awesome in-laws), this is not the house for us. It is a decent starter home for a young couple or perfect for a newly divorced parent who wants a basic home in their kid's school district for those weekend visits. It's not that great for an older couple with a toddler (and a dog and a cat). With that in mind, we really had to make our peace with the concept of remodeling a forever home versus a for now home. Let me tell you, one of the hardest things about planning my own wedding was trying to write the wedding ceremony. If you're in the same boat but looking for alternative vows with a sweeter, more innocent lean - well, here ya go! Some wedding vows - Shel Silverstein style! Continue reading

I was so excited to do this Vermont wedding board because I love the snow and I love red flannel - and both are PERFECT for the state's landscape. Embrace the delightful quirks of this rustic state by pairing a wedding dress with a flannel shirt, serve s'mores instead of the traditional wedding cake, host a coffee bar at the reception. If you'd love to have a little cozy warmth in your wedding then check out this Vermont wedding board for more inspiration! Continue reading

Today's state wedding inspiration board comes the lovely Jenn Tolbert of Woodlands Bride and features her (and my current) home state, Texas. From Jenn, "The stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas! One thing is for sure, Texans love Texas and the state's rich western roots run deep. My inspiration for this wedding was the red, white and blue of our state flag, mixed with symbols that not toward cowboy culture. A perfect wedding in Texas would take place in a historic stone hall surrounded by wildflowers, followed by a reception of beer and BBQ, and the bride and groom would dance the night away under the stars pausing just to sing their college fight song."
