Woke up this morning and realized that I've only got a couple more months of being pregnant. That's right, as of today, I'm officially 34 weeks knocked up. That could explain why I've been so unbelievably exhausted this past week. I mean, BEYOND tired. As I did with my first pregnancy, I'm taking photos and doing a cute week-by-week FYI session from here on out (ala Little Baby Garvin). Continue reading

I am a slacker mom. No, no. Let me clarify that. I am THE Slacker Mom – the Patron Saint of Slacker Moms, if you will. I am beyond lazy. Look I adore my family and I’m grateful to be able to work from home but I am definitely NOT the kind of mom who plans elaborate parties to celebrate half-birthdays or creates a learning center in the corner or my beautifully landscaped yard for the neighborhood kids. Frankly, you’ll be lucky if you come to my house before 5PM and find me with my teeth brushed. So, keeping my house “company clean” at all times is… not gonna happen (I salute those of you who do though!). So, I’ve spent the last few years finding products that can quickly and effectively make my house shine. And with the help of Costco, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, Dawn Platinum Advanced Power, and Cascade Complete Action Pacs, I’ve perfected what I like to call, “The Slacker Mom’s Guide To Getting Your House Company Clean in 20 Minutes”. It's that time - that time when I'm far enough along in my pregnancy that everyone starts bugging me about packing my hospital bag. Last time around, I did a pretty good job of not over or under packing and I feel like this time, I'm even better prepared to pack only what's needed. So, without further adieu, here's my hospital bag for my second pregnancy and delivery (please keep in mind that I am low-maintenance and planning on a vaginal birth, breastfeeding, and going home the same day): Continue reading

This is my third trimester and I'm at 33 weeks today. I hit a pretty hardcore uncomfortable/lazy wall this past week but still managed to get off my ass and do some stuff around the house. Lots of cleaning, sorting, and donating. As I did with my first pregnancy, I'm taking photos and doing a cute week-by-week FYI session from here on out (ala Little Baby Garvin). Continue reading

As many of you know, my husband and I have been remodeling and renovating our little home for YEARS. We're doing all the work ourselves (with a little help from friends and family whenever possible - i.e. not hiring anyone) and on a tighter-than-tight budget. We are remodeling room-by-room and recently, we tackled the bones of the newly built entryway. This is a tiny addition (that includes a small half bath and a nicely sized front porch) that was constructed right before our wedding. We knew that we wanted the entryway to function as a mudroom with lots of storage while introducing people to the clean-lined, homespun style that we had designed for the rest of the house. Most of that feel would come through in the bones of the room and I learned a lot about how to style a rustic farmhouse entryway as we went along. Read on and I'll share what I learned with you! One of the hardest parts about planning the honeymoon can be figuring out what the hell you're going to pack! Often, you've never been to the location that you'll be 'mooning at and it can be tempting to over plan and over pack. Don't do it! Save your money and save your sanity by pre-planning your wardrobe and packing a few versatile pieces (thus, saving precious space for shopping!). Here's my tips and suggestions on packing for 7 days in Los Angeles: Continue reading

It's long been a tradition for the bride to gift her parents a little something on her wedding day to share her gratitude and thanks for the journey (and the big ass party). I've rounded up 10 great ways the bride can show the father-of-the-bride a little wedding day love: Continue reading

I'm at 32 weeks in my third trimester and, after a few really bad nights of sleep last week, I think that I'm doing better. I've managed to sleep a little better and started nesting HARD. My back pain's been better, too. All in all, I'm doing fine. As I did with my first pregnancy, I'm taking photos and doing a cute week-by-week FYI session from here on out (ala Little Baby Garvin). Since I began blogging nearly 10 years ago, I've been actively looking for my people. Other bloggers who could share my successes, my failures, my struggles, and (most importantly) work with me to cross-promote our blog and social media content. Sharing content among bloggers is common and a great way help boost each other up and create amazing relationships. I am beyond grateful for the people that I have "met" online in these groups and love the connections we have made. However, while so many people in these groups are supportive and there for the opportunity to connect with other bloggers - there always seem to be the ones that just... aren't. I thought it'd be funny to share my thoughts on the 10 people you'll find in a Facebook blog promotion group: Continue reading

Ah, pregnancy. It's a magical FREAKING time. I mean, when else will your hair spontaneously begin growing at a remarkable speed (and I do mean ALL of your hair), your balance is all out of whack, and pooping is a brand new adventure. No, seriously. I cannot believe how much of my pregnancies revolved around my ability to poop. Like, every doctor wants to know about it, talk about it, and sometimes - even SEE it. My husband and I would discuss it endlessly. If I couldn't go - I was miserable. When I did go... well, it wasn't like before I got knocked up. But, hey, at least it prepared us for how much we'd be talking about poop after the birth of our children (The answer: OMG! SO MUCH!). So today, let's discuss pooping while pregnant and what you need to know about it. Continue reading

It's that time of year again, when every commercial and every blog is out there telling you about all the stuff you have to give your guy on Father's Day. Some of it is really cool but, let's be honest, most of it is RIDICULOUS (unless the Dad in question is The Hipsterist Of All The Hipsters). If the Father in question is more camo and casting or more gigabytes and Green Goblin than weird facial hair and obscure beers - here's my suggestions for 10 things he'll actually want this Father's Day (because most Dads aren't hipsters): Continue reading

Hey, guess what? Today is mine and The Boy's fourth anniversary! From our first date in Alaska, to our 5k wedding in Texas, to the birth of our daughter, to this newest baby - we've come a long way. All in all, we've been together for 10 years. We've never been shy about how much we like each other and how much we enjoy each other physically. We've always been very open and able to communicate what we do and don't like between the sheets and we've never been shy about trying out new things. I believe that a couple's ability to communicate openly about sex is extremely important and there's no shame in wanting to spice things up. From the beginning of our relationship, we've experimented with fun toys and had a great time. But you know what? Those toys were always so... utilitarian and ugly looking that they made me feel a little unsexy when we'd play with them. So, imagine my excitement, when I discovered a resource for chic and modern looking marital aids that were also SO, SO fantastic (OMG. SO FANTASTIC!)! The products from LELO are well-designed, sleek-looking, and just WORK. So, check out my ideas on how to spice up your relationship with a few fun options from LELO: Continue reading

It's baseball season, bitches! We are big sports fans in our house and just about any night of the week will find us hanging out in the living room with some sporting event on the TV. Right now, we're all in for our favorite sport - baseball (I root for the Boston Red Sox and he's all over the Texas Rangers). Every year since we started dating, we have had a tradition of attending one Red Sox at Rangers game in Arlington a year. Now that we have a kid - the tradition is still going strong (read more about my experience attending a game while knocked up and see how I DIYed a cute dual team jersey for my daughter so she could cheer for both our teams). Are you knocked up and want to show your team pride, too? Then check out the options below and see how you can represent your team with MLB maternity wear: Continue reading
