Question: What is a sound tag? Answer: It’s the sound bite used by advertisers and TV show producers to signify something is up or to differentiate their product from their competitors. Sound tags are today’s tag line. If used well it can become a powerful tool in your branding tool box, if used unwisely it becomes nothing more than an annoyance. Continue reading

The Intouchables is an intense look at what life is like walking in another person’s shoes. It’s a look at what life could be like if one chooses to go against ones natural tendencies and take risks instead of playing it safe. In the movie we get to watch the transformation of the people we are watching, its brilliant writing and acting. Continue reading

The Seahawk team has been in the making for 4 years now: loose ragamuffin players picked for their potential not for their record. Has been's, rejects and wannabees all coming together starting 4 years ago when the Seahawk's Management Team thinking process changed. Continue reading

What is missing in the line "If you build it, they will come"? The second line "Then market the heck out of it, otherwise they wont know that you built anything". Marketing is what gets people to your baseball diamond, amusements park or your website and oh yea your blog. I'll admit when I began this blog I didn't do any marketing just a tag line in my semi-monthly newsletter and a few announcements in the various LinkedIn groups I belong to. Well almost a year has passed by and I have yet to achieve any great numbers in the way of visitors. Why? You guessed it, no marketing. Continue reading

I personally believe the XBOX was one of Microsoft’s best business choices opening the doors for them to reinvent themselves and open the doors to many future possibilities. The purchase of Nokia by Microsoft not only allows them to offer cell phones but also leverage the Nokia Brand and Nokia technology which will be one more step in their desire to once again outpace rival Apple. Justice League Joins Forces with KIA to Fight Poverty Ok, maybe I was under a rock when the Justice League/Kia Car Campaign was rolled out earlier this year at the 2013 New York International Auto Show but I don’t remember hearing or seeing anything about this wonderful pairing of two iconic brands. For those of you who also missed it let me explain... Continue reading

As per standard operating procedures Carl’s Jr. one of four fast food franchises owned by fast food giant CKE Restaurants, is continuing on with its tradition of producing raunchy ad campaigns designed to lure in would-be customers. Given the gist of the latest ad you can figure the demographic they are shooting for is males 16 – 30 who love Adam Sandler movies, listening to Howard Stern, subscribe to Maxim and spend too time watching porn and playing online war games. Continue reading

Saputo Cheese Heads brand cheese sticks has been reduced to scrimping on the size of their once 1oz cheese sticks by reducing their size to .833 oz.. I suspect it’s part of an overall strategy on their part to make more money. Saputo management like so many others have fallen prey to what I like to call scrimping. Scrimping is where a company will sell a reduced size portioned product while charging the same price as the previous larger portioned product. Continue reading

Media Bias once again raises its ugly head. I cannot count the number of times I hear the term Right-Wing used to describe everyone from domestic terrorists to religious zealots. The problem of branding evil doers with the term Right-Wing is that in most cases these are not Right-Wing people at all. Continue reading

Dodges Super Bowl Ad tribute to American farmers a missed opportunity. The two ads I liked the most were the Jeep/USO and the Dodge Ram Solute to the Farmers ads. My 17 year son thought differently he didn’t see anything particularly special about either one. So here is what I would have done had I been in charge of the Ad. Continue reading
