You'll need to go back to the beginning of today's posts to find out what we're doing. There's a real assortment of images and purposes today! The above are from last year but are just as current this year. They are papergoods treat bags made of paper items like notecards,... Continue reading

Surprise, we've jumped track from rubber stamps to cachets! How many of you know what cachets (of the philatelic genre...) are? They are illustrations relating to the subject of a stamp and painted or printed into an empty envelope called a First Day Cover. For several decades I worked in... Continue reading

This is a grouping of little paper goods - two tiny notecards and a tag or bookmark. All are made with current October Pumpkin rubber stamps. Somehow it's very fun to have wee handmade items to share as a friendly surprise with nearly anyone. I have gone so far as... Continue reading

Animals are particularly fun to sketch as they are each constructed so differently. These also were going to be rubber stamp designs, and perhaps they still will be. Continue reading

Here it is a week or so later and I am still not normal after recent health setbacks. I do know most of my viewers enjoy looking at my artwork (thank you, thank you! You are too kind!) and I had hoped to have some fresh stuff ready to share.... Continue reading

Hello to all my patient and longsuffering blogreaders! When I last posted, I was incapacitated by a pulmonary embolism. I'm happy to report that this situation is resolving well and quickly. But. A complication developed. (Don't they always?) On my last day in the hospital I awoke at 4:30 a.m.... Continue reading

When a word carries the suggestion of catastrophe, it brings up all kinds of vivid images that none of us want to see. One word like that is "embolism". The afternoon of August 18 I was going about my business as usual when suddenly I could not breathe. There was... Continue reading

A few days ago I was sorting through a desk drawer and came upon a small drawing made by a former student several years ago. He gave it to me saying I could do whatever I wanted to with it, might as well pitch it out. Here was my dilemma.... Continue reading

How gruesome is it when ghosts invade your neighborhood and disturb your sleep by wafting and wailing from house to house? The jack-o-lantern on the wee tag is likely saying, "You can't escape. We're going to haunt you this Halloween night!" The chunk of sandpaper on the card goes along... Continue reading

Using the versatile October Pumpkin scarecrow stamp colored and cut out, then adhered to a tag, I threw together this quick and cheery Halloween card. It's colorful instead of scary! Continue reading

Someone sent me a tearstrip of monastic Latin chant, source unknown, so I quickly scanned a copy onto kraft cardstock, tore it to demonstrate its antiquity, and adhered it to a foldover card in a shade we might call Purple Decay, just to be scary. The ghostie triplets from October... Continue reading

We in Ohio are promised by the weather folks that today is the last hottie. Our temps have ranged in the mid 90s with a heat index of 100-105 for as long as I can remember (a few weeks, actually, I'm just whining!) Hubby and I live in an Old... Continue reading

Brenda, thank you so very much for your kind words! Yes, it does take a toll to stand by and watch, unable to fix the problem. David is a dialysis patient, thus somewhat fragile, so it is always scary when additional problems strike out of the blue. Each day my stress asthma got worse and worse. I thought I would have bounced back by now, but the heat wave, humidity, pollution, and hay fever season are upon us. I agree so much that familiarity is healing! When you are in the impersonal sterility of a hospital, you long for the comforts of home! Thank you again, and I do hope you are enjoying using our stamps. I would just love to see some of the things you've made! Keep on crafting! Judith

This photo, taken from my husband's room in a medical center, is as surreal and Edward Hopper-like as last week was for us. He suddenly became very ill with chest pain, coughing, and shortness of breath - we dashed to the emergency room and after hours of tests we received... Continue reading

The crocheted lace and tiny heartshaped button embellishments give a Victorian feeling to this card, I thought. It made me think of olden times when ladies and children decamped to the seashore for the long hot summers. Their hubbies remained in the city to continue working, then commuted to the... Okay, we just talked about my husband David's birthday in the preceding post. You saw his card. Now you see the gift bag I literally threw together at the last sec. I keep a selection of kraft bags on hand and this one just fit his gift. How to festoon... Continue reading

We celebrated my husband's birthday recently. I always make his card (he has a fit if I don't) and in my eagerness to make a just-perfect one for the main guy in my life, I always get brain freeze when I sit down at my worktable to begin this project.... Continue reading

When you bring stamp images to life with color, doesn't it take you back to those colorbook days? It does me!

Hi Tammy!
As I glanced at the etsy shop widget on my blog this morning, I happened to notice a card my daughter Stephanie had made using the October Pumpkin penguins stamp. Underneath the sweet little penguin family, the sentiment "Hell" was visible. I stared a moment, then thought surely that word... Continue reading

When I was a wee girlie (OH so long, long ago!) a hot summer day in southern Indiana usually brought my best friend Linda Faye Hinkle over to my house carrying her Crayolas and a battered coloring book, shouting, "Let's color!" That meant we would lie in front of a... Continue reading

Photography disaster! Photography disaster! I couldn't get the flash shut off, for starters, so you can't see the cute little triangular sticker-thingie at the bottom of the lighthouse image. It has a couple of dolphins at the top, then the text "by the sea" below. Then there is some kind... Continue reading

Ok, message just vanished - hope it doesn't resurface multi-times like my registration did! I just found Graphic 45 at a scrapbook store in Dayton OH and fell in love at first sight - these are such wonderful, beautiful, high quality papers. I have two and can't wait to get more. As soon as I got them I had to get out 2 b.day cards in a BIG RUSH so I slapped together the ones shown on my blog in about 10 mins apiece and will spare you from seeing them here, as they would look so pathetic compared to the amazing and awesome projects you all are posting - like the ballet items here - SIGH! If only I could spend all afternoon poking around here, but must go keep an appointment. Judith octoberpumpkin.typepad.com
