Boy, have I been getting hit with life lessons, lately. God is trying to tell me something. Again. (This is, like, the third or fourth ‘again’ for me, by the way) Last week we downgraded to a no-cable and no-smart phone home. The cable I could take or leave. Now... Continue reading

Seriously, there should be better things to talk about. I should have stories to tell you about Christ changing the entire town of Port Jefferson and millions of dollars being given to organizations like Love146. Instead, I am talking to you about why I am boycotting the Pro Sports "Big... Continue reading

My daughter's birthday was yesterday. Today, we were allowed to come to her class, bring some snacks, read a book, and sing to her. It was exhilerating. OK. So it wasn't that intense. But I have to say it was fun to be a part of that. Most Dads don't... Continue reading

Mike, I don't want to get into a semantics war, but I said what I said and meant it. The Bible does contain the Word of God. It also IS the Word of God, but I did not want to use it in that context because the point of the blog was to show that it is a book that is meant to serve us, not us it. We serve a mighty God, not a book. The Bible was compiled by the church, for the church. Both God and the Church existed before the Bible was finally put together in one volume. We would not have the Bible without the Church (and the Holy Spirit of course), and we would not have the Church without Christ. That is what I meant. Thanks for the kind words about the rest of it though. Josh, I could not have said it better myself. And you weren't rambling.

This question started to haunt me years ago when I attended a Lutheran Church. "Sola Scriptura", Latin for, "Scripture Alone", was one of the mottos of Martin Luther, supposed founder of the Lutheran Church (sidebar: if Martin Luther found out they named a religion after him, he'd be rolling in... Attached is a picture of a Christian tract I received in place of a good tip after excellent service. Now, I know what you're thinking. "Dan, why are you calling these Christians stupid? Don't they believe what you believe? Isn't the grace of God the best tip you ever could... Continue reading

As a young chap in youth ministry and Christian school, I was always told to read my Bible (if I could find it). My biggest gripe was the confusion that would ensue due to the fact that there were so many translations and so many things I did not understand.... Continue reading

9/12. Nobody talks much about this day. For me, it was probably just as hard a day 10 years ago as 9/11 was emotionally. But in America, 9/12 will not be remembered much. What was 9/12 known for 10 years ago? Well it was a Wednesday that saw many flags... Continue reading

John Adams said this concerning July 2, 235 years ago: "The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated,... Continue reading
