It's not the vacation mode. You can inactivate only the listings you are taking with you that day. On your listings page you'll see the tabs at the top. Inactive is one of them. For stuff in the gallery I would say you shouldn't also have them on Etsy, but if you can make enough work to have a good selection in both places that might be good. It does seem like you do a lot more in person business, so maybe you don't need to have more than a few originals in the Etsy shop. Then you can inactivate their listings when you go to a show.

I feel myself extremely fortunate that I have very sweet and loyal fans. At my most recent art show in Alpine, CA, I had the pleasure of having some very enthusiastic ladies come to seek me out. One woman had seen a piece that a friend of hers had purchased at the same show last year. She was ...
I have the same problems. Textile art doesn't translate to prints as well as paper based art. I don't do lots shows like you do, only the Fiber Art Stroll which I did last year and will do again this year. When I bring items there I take them off sale of Etsy for the day. You can make a listing inactive for any period of time. You're right, you wouldn't want to have more than one sale per item! That's great about the ladies making large orders!

You have been more than generous Jude! I hope you find a way to make this all work for you as I'd hate to have it all be just a memory. I have also seen quite a few using Vimeo and you can have secret groups on Facebook where folks have to be invited. Just a thought. Maybe Typepad needs a server just for you and your blogs!
On the edge
Make your pictures smaller they say. OK. Let's try that. For now. As I try to simplify my approach to internet presence, I find myself looking at how being here has expanded my reach, but at the same time thinned my vision as well. Like trying to see too far, gathering too much. An...

Thank you Els! Yes, it's a fun one. I really seem to be drawn to these colors right now.
Back to the Cats
Starting to puzzle the blocks together, thinking about how to do the faces, hoping I can get it done for the show (but not going to make myself crazy to do so!). What's up with you?

Thanks! I hope you try them out on fabric!
Adventures with Caran D'Ache Neocolor II: Watch Your Step
I have been wanting to try using watercolor on fabric for a while now. It started with the beautiful AAQI quilts that JoAnn Stowell has been doing. Since I discovered her work last year I think I've bought three of them! I asked her about her technique and discovered that she's been trying...
The back certainly has more order. Glad you like it!
Las Ventanas in the Garden
I finished the binding on Las Ventanas this morning and went looking for a suitable place for a photo shoot. The colors of this one are brilliant, but hard to photograph well. The background color is really a mustardy sort of yellow, but can look chartreuse or other shades of green in certa...
Thanks Heidi!

My hubby got a good laugh over that one! Yes, he does some cooking and cleaning and does a lot of laundry. I also have gotten used to cleaning less often. I do have a lot of free time, but I also tend to work quickly. I think the thing that takes the longest is the pondering. I often have one project on a design wall so I can look at it and think about it while I work on another project on the other wall. Usually once I've figured out what to do, things go pretty quickly.

Another spam comment. Wonder why that happened? Maybe Typepad had the hiccups. Thank you. I like the color combo too.
Birds, Baskets and Blooms
Finally finished this top that I'm embarrassed to say I started 3 or 4 years ago. It was a retreat with Gwen Marston and Freddy Moran. What fun that was! This quilt was nearly done. I had made the bottom border and didn't like it. All it needed was a little bit of unsewing and resewi...
Thank you Cheryl! I just found your comment in a spam folder. I have no idea why it would be labeled spam, but I'm glad I found it.
Adventures with Caran D'Ache Neocolor II: Hibiscus, Houses and Candy
Further adventures with Neocolor II! The basic idea with these pieces is that I painted directly on a piece of muslin. First I ironed the muslin to a piece of freezer paper to make it easier to draw on. I made my design with Neocolor II crayons. Then I went over it with the textile medium/...

Thank you Heidi. I really do love this one and it's the colors and the prints that make it for me.
