Create with love, laughter and a bit of whimsy, and we're sure to illuminate our world.
Interests: My passion is to create joy and love through our spirit. I've discovered that a figment of my imagination is a little bit of heaven inside of me expectin' to get out. We are blessed to be creative and are meant to share our talents, so let’s inspire one another to shine. ------- I dabble in mixed media, collage, altered books, altered art, photography, painting, scrapping, journaling and writing. I teach sewing and ribbon embroidery and had a needle in my hand since I was 14. I want sewing to be fun, fashion or art.-----------I'm a southern gal and have decided to be more creative in my second half of life.. ha ha -- full of imagination and heart. Let's be generous and grateful Let's Create, Imagine & Illuminate as Morning Dew Drops. My spiritual inspiration..." ...Out of the womb of the morning will spring forth Your young creating anew who are as the dew." (my interpretation of Psalm 110:3)

Natalie is learning the rewards of sewing and knows to take her time, drive slow and be patient, BUT OH the REWARDS! Sew let's check in on Natalie and see how it's going. Here's Natalie sewing a ribbon border around the hem of her dress, and YES, it's a pillow case. Natalie says that if her sewing machine could talk, she'd want it to say, "Pressure Bar Down!" LOL -- And for those of you who sew, wouldn't this be wonderful! As Natalie was sewing her bobbin thread tangled under the needleplate, so we stopped to fix the problem. We... Continue reading

Natalie says, "Girls, this apron is not just for cooking!" So get out your big glam flowers to wear with it & CReaTe! Natalie's making a fashion statement in her designer apron. Adorable aprons have been in stores in big numbers in the past few years, but we've gone one stronger. We created our own pattern and used mod-fabulous fabric in a stripe of lime green, pink & zebra print. There is no other apron like this in the world. Natalie discovered she can wear her apron while sewing, drawing and just being the artist that she is. She can... Continue reading

First grader, Natalie, is back to show all her friends and other girls her age just how much fun sewing can be. She's creating a "Stitch & Sketch" fabric art journal. Natalie is actually quilting the journal cover. She learned about interfacing and how it makes the fabric stiffer. We placed some felt in between two pieces of fabric for padding. Natalie will eventually end up with puffy little stitched squares as her quilting design on her fabric art journal cover. Natalie sewed on her zebra-print ribbon tie closure -- Look how close to the edge of the ribbon her... Continue reading

I've named my postcard, "Create Multiple Possibilities!" The theme this year for the postcard swap is "Create!" My premise is that you can create many things with one idea. I knew from the beginning that I would try various image transfer techniques from one image. The image I used was a picture of an old Chevy Pickup Truck I had taken a few years back while riding around one Sunday afternoon with my husband. I actually made a tri-fold postcard. (full) The postcard is made entirely of paper and some of the lettering is stitched. The truck is going in... Continue reading

What better weekend to introduce Phoebe Valentine than on Valentine's Day Weekend. Oh, and, of course, her BFF, Poof! Phoebe & Poof are characters in the upcoming series Whimsies of Light Phoebe Valentine is four years old and has quite the imagination. She has imaginary friends, but are they imaginary? Phoebe says, "I can see angels and they talk to me. We sing jingles together and they can lift me up, too." "I don't know about that," says Poof, "I think Phoebe a tad mad!" But all the Whimsies think Poof a tad mad, so who is really to say?... Continue reading

Natalie Haston is going to be quite the fashion designer. Her skills certainly matched her style. Way To Go Natalie! She is only 7 years old; yet she mastered her sewing machine skills today. Although the test was not easy, Natalie put her first-grade smarts to the test. Natalie received her license and completed two designer pillows that would be a delight for any Barbie according to Natalie. She selected the designer prints from an array of fabric options. She liked the peace signs and noted the the pillows are reversible -- that's designer instinct. * * * * *... Continue reading

Hi, My name is Viola Marie Cello and I live in Whimsydom. Whimsydom is a different place in time and space that drips from the universal honeycomb. You can transverse from where you are to Whimsydom and back again all at the same time, but the only way to get there is through the heart of your imagination. (copyright protected) "I’m seven years old," says Viola. "I can appear in my own art which is cool, but a little weird, and it gets me into all sorts of jams. I definitely need to get this thing under control because Lipstick,... Continue reading

Loppie is a new character I created for a children's storybook I'm writing. Loppie is a bunny whose ears grew together (to a point) and one is much longer than the other, so she ties them in a pretty bow. Together Loppie and Lop (soon to be introduced) go on adventures together. Loppie started with background layers like we've been discussing all week. Collage papers, scraps and patterns Textures and colors and bling Art Candy I'm looking forward to introducing Lop later this summer. So more announcements to come on Loppie & Lop Hear. Blessings Terri (Technique learned from Juliette... Continue reading

All that Pillow Talk and Art Candy Inspiration we've shared helps create interesting background layers. These backgrounds are on canvas boards. I like to work on several layer boards at a time, so when I am ready to paint I can just pull out a completed background board and start. Some of this pattern will peek through, some will not. Be sure to take pictures of your background boards before you draw or paint on them because they make GREAT copyright-free collage papers. Use them over and over in all sorts of ways, just print them out. Blessings Terri (I... Continue reading

Well, hello my lovely dewdrops. You might say I've been on a sabbatical of sorts gearing up for a super duper 2013 and here we are into March already. I've been working on all sorts of art-eye candy for you. Resin jewelry being one of them! So I'm off on a run again, but had to just dive back in or you'd wonder where I've been. March brings back the best of past posts for your review as we start anew for Spring 2013. Yeah, so much to do, "I'm late, I'm late," said the white rabbit in Wonderland, but... Continue reading

Aqua Jada is the water-wise mermaid. Jada means “wise” and she sees beyond her past because she knows it’s the only way to see her future. Hence, the name of the painting is “Sea Beyond”. She "seas" beyond what’s in front of her to create her future -- one of richness, love, joy and beauty. In the midst of the deep troubling waters is a vastness of beauty. Can you see it? The word "vision" has been popping in my head since the New Year began. I’m being asked to see rivers in the desert and, apparently, magical mermaids under... Continue reading

A Cake Cup - My Twist on a Sweet Gift and Under $4 I'm sure many of you have seen this idea. I call it the Cake Cup - some call it the "3-2-1 Microwave Cake in a Cup," but no matter what you call it; it's simple, sweet, delicious, easy and thoughtful. I got my mugs at Walmart for $1.97 in light and dark blue. These were Christmas "happies" I made for my co-workers. Great to remember for -- babysitters, teachers, caregivers, etc. (To save more you can go to the dollar store and get Christmas mugs.) I made... Continue reading
