"Meet Pat McAfee and give him a gift" has now been checked off of my 2015 goals list. I've heard people say that you shouldn't meet your heroes because you might be disappointed with how they are in real life, and this thought crossed my mind briefly when I found... Continue reading

Here's a little diddy I wrote for Indyprov! I'm taking their Level One class and I'm loving the hell out of it. I've been performing and teaching improv for over 11 years and I am still awed and inspired by watching the magic happen. Our instructor, Amity is the absolute... Continue reading

Is this thing on? Oh, hey. How's it goin? It's been a minute, hasn't it, blog that I talk to like a person? What's new, you ask? All kinds of things! For starters, I've been listening to a great deal of Heavy Metal lately. I went through a huge Metallica... Continue reading

When I applied for a job at Cheeseburger in Paradise almost 8 years ago, I had no idea the upbeat island themed restaurant would introduce me to roughly 80% of the people that live in my city (I made that up, but seriously, I know a lot of people) and... Continue reading

Hi, Trey! Great post! It's striking how similar your and Emma's writing "voices" are. You both seem very light-hearted and witty. If I remember right, I believe Emma has an improv background (and it shows in her writing)... This is a little off topic, but did you also dabble in improv? Just wondering. Anyway-looking forward to hearing more from you!

I did a poetry! It was kind of on a whim, I guess. I was flipping through a magazine at the Country Club and saw an article featuring last year's winners. I figured, I've never entered a poetry contest, why not? Turns out I won an award! I got to... Continue reading

Emotional rollercoaster. Well played.
I've said it before, and I will certainly say it again: MUSIC IS THE GREATEST GIFT!! At least if you are looking to give me something :) It's one of my favorite things to receive (be it in iTunes gift card form or burnt CD, etc.) and certainly one of... Continue reading

Hey-o! It's no secret that Eric and I love calendars. When they go on sale this time each year, we usually get several. This year was no different, except (record scratch sound) we're in an apartment now and we're not allowed to put any holes in the wall. What can... Continue reading

Hey, friends! I am going to share with you a fabric painting technique that I learned from watching my Mammaw. She had a treasure trove of fabric paints of all colors and kinds. I remember how she'd spread out her supplies on one end of their dining room table and... Continue reading

The strangest thing happened to me on Sunday night. On Saturday I worked around 12 hours- 7 brutal hours at CIP followed by 5 hours at the Country Club. Then on Sunday I woke up around 10 am and did homework from noon until around 10:30 that night. When I... Continue reading

Excellent post! My husband's brother-in-law had a Bar Stocking party when they finished the home bar they have in their basement. Everyone was asked to bring a bottle of something they love, and they ended up with quite the assortment! I think that's a great alternative to a house warming party, and it's also a win-win for everyone involved! The bar owner gets a free bottle for their bar, and the guest knows there will always be something there they like whenever they visit.

The symbolism of a New Year can be very inspiring. The closing of one year is a reflective and contemplative time that brings about lists and resolutions; favorite moments and lessons learned are neatly organized and posted. And why not? Who doesn't like a fresh start? A chance to make... Continue reading

This is a journal entry from my IVYT 101 class. At first I scoffed at the notion of taking a "How to be a College Student" class. Ummm, hello? I already have a college degree. But I've really enjoyed some of the exercises in this class. As I was writing... Continue reading

I'm not sure how many years ago something has to have happened to be considered a "Throw Back" but this was 2002 so I think it counts. All of these photos are from the first show I stage managed my sophomore year at ISU, "The Little Prince." Adapted for the... Continue reading

Hey, y'all. So I auditioned for The Voice. Eric and I drove to St. Louis and I auditioned. It was such a cool experience, I just wanted to share it here before I forget it all. So here's the long version of it :) I've been watching the Voice and... Continue reading

WERK!! There's just something that resonates with me when I see someone who dresses with their own personal style. They are aware of their personalities and what flatters their body type and they just make it WORK! I see these people and I always get inspired to be more adventurous... Continue reading

So, the hardest thing about doing a post about your mother is actually finding pictures of her, especially from your childhood. Nine times out of ten she is usually the one holding the camera. But when you look past the adorable blonde angel child (aka: me) at the bigger picture,... Continue reading

I've been keeping gratidude journals for a few years now. I notice a difference in my life and my sleep pattern when I neglect to write in it. But perhaps the greatest oversight I've had lately is to make those things I'm grateful for known... Looking back tonight on the... Continue reading
