I called Searsport Rug Hooking this summer, looking for advice on a beginner project for my sister. When I tell you that they are the nicest people in the world, I mean it. If I were not a committed quilter with a serious fabric stash, I would've bought a project for myself - and maybe one day I will! So looking forward to your projects!

Hi Mary, I bought it from a small company in Connecticut which unfortunately is no longer in business. It might be a good idea to search the phrase 'quilt frame bar".

Hi Pat - I'm ashamed to admit this but I don't remember where I bought it from. I believe it was about 20 years ago from a company in North Carolina. I know I still have the receipt somewhere. It is a very simple design. I've bought more rail sets since then - from king-sized on down. I really like it.

I was a January-frame-setter-upperer too, but January is when I don't mind having a quilt on my lap. You make a good point about how some quilts need room. Frames are great for borders. I do have a split hoop which comes in handy too.

Hi Karen - that's funny! I've seen your tray and I think it's beautiful! I strongly believe in trays, especially when you are using so many threads.
