Hey kids. I regret to inform y'all that Hey Delicious! will be taking a hiatus due to personal issues. I apologize for my vagueness (is that a word?) but I'll be back in action when it is feasible. Thanks so much (times a million) for reading, commenting, and exploring my... Continue reading

(hot, bubbly, cheesy perfection) Not only is making your own pizza easy, it's cost effective. Here is the cost breakdown: - TJ's whole wheat pizza crust - 0.99 - TJ's whole milk low moisture mozzarella - 4.99 - San Marzano tomatoes, 28 oz can - 3.99 (on sale!) - used... Continue reading

Or, "One Fish? Two Fish! Red Fish? Blue Fish!" - Or, "Who has two thumbs and paid under $10 for dinner at Garden of Eden? This girl!" Okay... enough. Here is what I'm talking about: How could I possibly have done this? Well, I refused to pay $20/lb. for shrimp... Continue reading

If you were reading Hoboken411.com yesteday like I was, you'll know Cammareri's just opened across the street from the PATH station on Hudson Place. Naturally I had to get down there with a quickness to see what delicious treats were to be had. The shop is still a work in... Continue reading

Harvest Cuisine recently opened in the old Wild Ginger spot on Washington Ave. Everywhere you look on the internet, it's being represented as a fresh, healthy, seasonal international cuisine spot. Who doesn't love great food that doesn't make you feel like a fatty? Mr. V and I decided to give... Continue reading

Mr. V and I are on a Nutella kick. He was never blessed with its presence as a child, as I was, so we purchased a container to see what trouble we could get into. We were soon slathering it on such delights as Filipino sweet bread (pan) and english... Continue reading

Today I'm here to rant about a current trend in the supermarket: products that are fine as the original, now being flavored not as flavors, but as whole dishes. Can one really call "buffalo chicken and blue cheese" a flavor? Wouldn't it be a compilation of flavors? You have the... Continue reading

Yeah I know I didn't come up with a witty, unique title for today's post, but I felt honesty would go a long way here. Now that my winter coat is in storage, I've been getting a strong jones for fresh fish, shrimp, and most of all, scallops. Pronounce them... Continue reading

Abbey - Yeah I know. You kinda forget about the Carlo's mayhem in the cold winter months. I honestly don't understand it. The bakery is good but certainly overrated. It's just the typical celebrity-worship that brings these people here. Sweet has the best cupcakes in town by far anyway.

(yeah, the onions look like boobs... i know) So what did I create from my Union Square Greenmarket buys on Saturday? Oh, no big deal. Just a ribeye with roasted cipollini onions, sauteed swiss chard with shallots, and a potato/sunchoke/garlic mash. Yeah, just another day in the V household. No... Continue reading

After doing a little research on Hoboken ice cream shops (that you'll see soon on Hoboken411), I have been more inclined to make my own ice cream. I'm a big fan of knowing what I'm eating. You may have seen our first attempt at ice cream and we have learned... Continue reading

The Union Square Greenmarket is a wonderful way to spend a sunny day in NYC. Go early, bring a cooler, and take your time. There is everything from artwork and clothing to rutabagas and honey. Here are some snapshots: I ended up buying some beautiful sunchockes (jerusalem artichokes), cippolini onions,... Continue reading

This beautiful pie before you is a product of the "Essentials of Healthful Cooking" book from Williams-Sonoma (thanks Jan!). I've been using this cookbook for a long time but have yet to make this delightful pizza... until today. The correct title for the recipe is "Pizza with Potatoes, Mushrooms, and... Continue reading

Hey Delicious! Guess what happens when you cook and eat a lot of decadent fun things? Your butt gets huge! In all seriousness folks, summer is coming up and we all want to slim down a little for the skimpier outfits we'll be wearing. This blog will be taking a... Continue reading

Mr. V and I just got back from Florida, and our first purchase back home (after the iPad 2 - sweet!) was an ice cream maker. We were visiting our good friends in Jacksonville Beach and they were discussing how they bought this delicious yogurt and were going to put... Continue reading

Hey Delicious wishes you all a safe and happy holiday. Please leave Hoboken in one piece for when I get back. Oh and by the way, it's been 80 and sunny all week. Hopefully NJ has sprung into spring so I can have a smooth transition coming back. I'm dying... Continue reading

Not only is cooking an amazing dinner for your date way sexier than taking them out, it is definitely a lot cheaper. The key here is to prepare something that looks like it took all day, when it really wasn't a big deal. I found two great recipes for you... Continue reading

Meat in loaf form is certainly a favorite amongst many homes in America. It's warm, soft, comforting, and usually accompanied by mashed potatoes and gravy. It doesn't get more perfect for a rainy Sunday than that. Meatloaf is also awesome for leftovers. You can warm it up in the microwave... Continue reading

Today, I thought I'd share with you some fun food finds Mr. V came home with yesterday from some Asian markets in Jersey City. (notice the wild, galloping Winston at 3 o'clock) Datu Puti is a Filipino vinegar spiced with hot peppers, onions, and garlic. It isn't very spicy, but... Continue reading

I took out two great cookbooks from the Hoboken Library the other day: Barefoot Contessa At Home by Ina Garten and Nigella Express: 130 Recipes for Good Food, Fast by Nigella Lawson. Now, I didn't originally go into this quest for great recipes looking for healthy junk food, it just... Continue reading

This song has been stuck in my head all day, therefore you get a silly title to today's blog post. Queen and Shrimp and Grits really have nothing in common, but hey, you can still enjoy both on a Friday night, right? Here is how dinner turned out: I have... Continue reading

(oh my goodness) On Friday night, a bunch of us went to The Breslin for dinner. Inside the swanky Ace Hotel in NYC, you can either go to the lobby bar and relax with NYC's hippest and classiest, go to the John Dory Oyster Bar (which is where I want... Continue reading

It's baked ziti! Fooled you. Well, probably not. Sorry to be so dramatic, I just like having some excitement during my workweek. Anyway... Yeah I know I just made lasagna, but I never get tired of a big pan of gooey, cheesy, tomatoey pasta. Especially when it gets you and... Continue reading
