I've got a new favourite crochet publication: Inside Crochet I started hooking it up about a month ago from some stylecraft dk. The colours for this acrylic are great and it's super cheap and cheerful. It started making up quickly, really once you've done the work in the middle it... Continue reading

Around the time the wheels fell off my blogging bus in 2014, and I sort of stopped posting properly was as I was finishing this blanket. All I was doing was hooking up square after square in my spare time, obsessively trying to get it finished in the bleak January... Continue reading

It's been a good few weeks for me. A lovely long weekend in France seeing a friend and her family after a couple of years of just skyping. Wow! I had forgotten quite the quality of energy a 17 month old requires. Then it was the end of term and... Continue reading

Hi Ana - I just drafted a post for my blogs agreeing that blogging changed - time is not allowing people to blog in the same way anymore - the normal peeps I mean - not the professional bloggers.... Thanks for your last comment btw - I must make an effort to turn those mandalas into cushion covers!!!!

I've made a few mandala's from Marinke's pattern above that I found in Issue 5 of Simply crochet. They are so effective and make good little gifts I think, although having a couple around the house at the moment I'm not entirely sure whether to leave them on tables and... Continue reading

Gwyn is back. After the second 6 night stretch in the last two weeks we have him back for the weekend - YES! I sense descent in the ranks already - a later night than usual anyway because of a playdate and the children have had to go to bed... Continue reading

Happy New Year! I have to admit when the clock struck midnight and the first moments of 2014's New Year threw themselves into the consciousness of revellers, I was asleep. Fast asleep. Maybe I was fighting off a bug because I didn't feel especially bright for it the following morning... Continue reading

I can't believe it. I finished this little lady on the 13th November. I packed her up and shipped her off to a little girl called Sienna in Monaco. It's George's birthday on Saturday - this becomes relelvant in a minute - and the other day I received a jiffy... Continue reading

It's been over six months since I started this throw for my bed. I crocheted 256 squares, laid them out on the bed the other week and woe! there are not enough to cover a super king so I have worked out I have 144 more of the things to... Continue reading

Wow it's blowing a gale out there tonight isn't it? I've spent pretty much all weekend at home. I love being at home with no pressure to be anywhere. Yesterday Ruby was adamant she did not want to leave the house, George had no complaints with that. After weeks and... Continue reading

Wow. Since my last post I'd like to say that I have been writing SO MUCH that I've completed my novel but actually what I've been doing apart is alot of life and a fair amount of crochet. I also believe there have been consecutive weeks of broken sleep with... Continue reading

I had stuff on 4 nights out of 5 this week. I know, what madness is that the first week back at school? I also fitted in a car accident where some idiot drove into the back of my car (from parked! FFS!) BELIEVE me I am feeling it.... never... Continue reading

Not quite sure what's going on this morning, maybe all the clean living is paying off. I went for a run last night and here I am, Sunday morning, I've had my hot water and lemon and spent the last 50 minutes writing and it's only 7.05am. What is that... Continue reading

This week was back to school and the first day was mine. It should have been really productive. Since coming back from holiday I have been feeling not just holiday blues but very very run down. While away I ate huge amount of things I know really don't work for... Continue reading

This summer is zipping past all too quickly. Every time I get an email I look at my phone and more often than not as I am informed of ANOTHER spam comment on this site and I think, 'You should post more often.' It's not that I haven't been doing... Continue reading

Loads of the families I know down here in Brighton camp. We are so close to some great campsites that you can be only 15 minutes from home but in the middle of the Downs. However my own camping experience was pretty much limited to guide camp, Glastonbury and a... Continue reading

Last week I found these squares in a basket. An idea started to brew. I have heaps of odd bits of Patons smoothie so why don't I make a blanket out of them for Ruby to give to her teacher who is pregnant as her end of year present? That's... Continue reading

Here are the squares I have made so far for the Make for Anyone Blanket that featured in issue 24 of Mollie Makes. I'm thinking 19X20 squares should cover a king size bed so I'm going to keep hooking. The trouble with making a huge project like this is knowing... Continue reading
