I'm going to make this one short and sweet and just hit the 4 S's this week. Too much to do, too little time! All this needs SNIPPED! We need some girly shorties and soakers in pinks and purples :). This is a sampling of what needs SHIPPED- these are from the Feb. pre-orders: All of these woolies need to be STOCKED- this is the instock for WCW and the Fresh stocking for the 9th: And last but not least, this all needs STITCHED- a stack of embroidered soakers, brown shorties and brown/blue soakers. These will be for the following... Continue reading

This is one post I've been excited to write and had in mind when I started this blog. Hand washing is probably the best way to preserve the quality and color in your woolies. I suggest you always hand wash 100% wool interlock and single ply knitted wool. If you're not sure what you have, go with hand washing. If you are washing WCW, all items have been wool blend for at least 2 years now. There are still some older pieces out there that were made with 100% wool. First thing you want to do is of course gather... Continue reading

First off I said I was going to report back this week how many hours I logged in my last busy week. Drum roll.....72 hours. And that's only because I took off several hours to clean my disaster of a work space. Yes, that means 10+ hours a day, I'm averaging about 11. I realize just how crazy this is. I'm starting a new schedule tomorrow that I can hopefully stick to and come down to a respectable 50ish hours a week. That is right after I bust my tail into the wee hours of the morning tonight! OK so... Continue reading

Nothing much to say, just cute kiddos in wool every Wednesday :). OK so this week isn't exactly a kid IN wool. But I just couldn't resist this. I had a basket of woolies beside me to sew tags on. All of a sudden, they were gone! Hmmm...where'd they go? Well apparently they went for a walk! (Yes, a chocolate face. I couldn't exactly crop that out though it was tempting. I promise her woolie grabbing fingers were clean. She took off before I wiped her face and was not worth the fight at that moment!) The stroller and babies... Continue reading

Every week on Sunday I will be sharing my plans for WCW for the upcoming week with you. Keeps me accountable, keeps you in the know! Oh boy, this week is going to be a busy one! It's amazing how just a few days away can throw me off so far. Where to begin... My first task will be writing a blog post for Monday about hand washing woolies. That's probably one of my most FAQ. The writing the post will be easy, but I think I need to enlist some help for photos. That's a little trickier. Plus the... Continue reading

By now you're sold on wool, right?! But you're still not sure where to go or what to do. It's all so confusing. Wool interlock, recycled wool, knit wool...it just goes on and on! Let me at least stat to break it down a little bit. I'll start with sewn wool fabric since it's what I know best ;). Wool interlock- this is a (machine) knit wool, knit in the round so it comes tubular. It's double knit, which means there is no wrong and right side. Both sides of the fabric show the knit side of the stitches and... Continue reading

Every week on Sunday I will be sharing my plans for WCW for the upcoming week with you. Keeps me accountable, keeps you in the know! Last week's list did not quite get finished due to one sick child and one critically ill sewing machine. The sewing machine has been replaced, the child I kept and is well again. I did spend all day yesterday working from approximately 7am until about midnight, only stopping for meals/restroom breaks. I am close to caught up from 2 days of lost work but not quite. So rolling over from last week onto the... Continue reading

Ahhh! So many choices! And if you're brand new to wool, it's all like a foreign language. Even if you're not a wool newbie it can sometimes be overwhelming trying to keep it all straight. Let me help you start to deciper it. There are several choices that you have available to you for wool covers. Each has it's pros and cons and each is useful in different situations, even different ages and stages. All of these options are available as knit/crochet or sewn, hand made or mass produced. My personal favorite are longies (pants, trousers whatever you want to... Continue reading

Every week on Sunday I will be sharing my plans for WCW for the upcoming week with you. Keeps me accountable, keeps you in the know! This week is going to be full of sounds of snip, snip, snip. We are gearing up for spring already! Yes, hard to imagine, I know. Winter is barely a couple weeks old. But I know it will sneak right up on me and for once, I plan to be ready! So this pile of wool will become a batch of about 4 dozen soakers (purple, orange, gray I think) and 2 dozen shorties... Continue reading

I thought it would be fun to bring you news from behind the scenes here at WCW HQ from time to time. The sewing of the woolies is only the tip of the iceberg, as they say. And considering the weather here in Ohio in January, well....that seems an appropriate phrase. So much more goes into the operation of running a small business from home. A WAHM (work at home mom) has to be everything all in one. I am shipping and receiving. I am merchandising and marketing. I am (head) seamstress and the photography department. It's me all me,... First things first- why wool? What is it that makes wool so great? Oh so many things, where do I even start?! I am passionate about wool. Let me convince you, too. Wool stash of my own woolie spoiled princess- Well first of all, wool diaper covers are probably most widely known for their wonderful leak protection. Wool will keep baby’s clothing, bedding and your lap dry. It initially resists moisture forcing the diaper underneath to soak up as much as possible. Of course your first line of protection IS that absorbent diaper underneath your cover. But once the diaper... Continue reading
