I was watching the Flyers broadcast and Bill Clement said, "Boy is Jovo having a bad game." I felt like e-mailing him and telling him that is every game...If Tallon and Viola are serious about putting a good team on ice the first guy they have to sit down with is Jovo and ask him if he wants to be traded or retire because he is the worst player on the team. I liked Jovo in the playoff run a few years ago but he just is not good enough anymore. He is the worst defenseman the Panthers have used all year. He should watch the Panthers games I watch and he would see he can't play any in the NHL anymore. As Tallon said, " flashes of 'old Ed.' " But mostly just OLD Ed.

Nick Bjugstad has been amazing almost every game as opposed to Jovo who has been terrible every game. If the Panthers want to get better Jovo needs to retire or be traded. He is no longer the player he once was. Please someone sit Jovo down and tell him he can't play anymore. Best thing for Panthers last game was Jovo being thrown out of game. Thought good, Panthers now have a chance.

Jovo has been great in the past and we all respect what it took to come back from his injury. That said his play this year has been far below what one expects. He has been slow, his passes off the mark, he seems rushed and gets rid of the puck too fast causing the other Panthers to have to make up for his poor play. He has cost the Panthers games. I have always been fan of Jovo but his play this year shows he should retire because if he is back for another year that means the Panthers will again be a bottom feeder. He is no longer good enough to be a NHL player. He needs to show his leadership and retire.

First game of Panthers this year I will miss. NBC Sports Network is not included in my DirecTV package. There are some good movies on tonight.

Doesn't help that Ottawa is not exactly a draw... I will be one of the 8,000 to watch Panthers beat the Jets...

This will make Saturday afternoon's game in Ottawa interesting.

Tallon has done a good job. It takes time to do a rebuild. You draft and have to wait until they develop. Tallon brought in some good players as a stop gap measure which is why the year before last they made the playoffs and went to double OT of game seven. It was no accident, good GM and good coach. As hard as it is to have patience, one must while the prospects develop. Gudbranson has improved and will be a top D in this league. Barkov just turned 18 and is playing in the best league in the world. Huberdeau is 20 and won rookie of year. There are some great prospects in San Antonio, Vincent Trocheck, Drew Shore, Quinton Howden, Alex Petrovic and Michael Houser to name a few. The drafting has been very good. A rebuild takes time. Could they be in the Panthers line-up now, sure but Tallon wants them playing big minutes in AHL so when they do play for Panthers they are ready. In reality Markstrom should be in AHL too. A rebuild takes time. As hard as the Panthers are to watch now, it is part of the rebuild, it just doesn't happen overnight. Tallon has put in place a good group of talent, now we have to wait for them to develop.

I will be at the game tonight. I went to one game last year after the lockout and the players were so out of shape and the play so bad I never went back. If they play hard and play like a NHL team I will be back. Against Oilers they have a chance to win. Both teams should have a desire to win and Oilers don't play the boring trap so I am looking forward to a very entertaining game.

That might have been the best thing Upshall has done since he became a Panther. LOL. The Panthers defense is weak. If Weaver is one of your best defensemen then you have a problem. Can't blame Markstrom with the guys he has in front of him. Bjugstad has been a surprise, he has been much better than I expected, thought he would start with Rampage but he has been good.

Very important points, a win and they are tied with Islanders for 9TH and they are only a point behind Ottawa, Montreal and Tampa.

Ottawa Sun should look at the Senators, they are only 2 points ahead of Panthers maybe the Sens will be willing to deal veteran players they re not doing that great themselves. Spezza anyone?

hank- the sad part is Gomez has been one of the better Panthers. No offense to him but when he is one of your better players it says something about the team.

The defense is terrible and the offense not much better. Don't know that you can blame Dineen when you bring in Whitney and send Petrovic to AHL...I turned the game off in the second period and watched "No Country For Old Men." Similar to Panthers, Whitney, Gilbert and Weaver, No Defense For Old Men...

hank- it is who had a better training camp and who can help them win now. If Whitney, Gilbert and Gilroy do that then so be it.

Everyone knows a Markstrom/Thomas duo is better than a Markstrom/Clem duo. There is no question having Thomas will push Markstrom and add more wins. It is a no brainer. Having Thomas could be the difference in getting into the playoffs or continuing last season's drift downward.

hank - Good chance that Vincent Trocheck takes Mueller's spot. Top two right wings Kris Versteeg & Scottie Upshall. Kopecky filling in if Versteeg is not ready to start season. Possibly Trocheck on the third line and Crabb on the fourth line. Not thrilled about Upshall but he may be good to have the right side of a Huberdeau/Barkov line. He would drop the gloves if someone tries to mess with them

It is a depth signing. With Matthias, Barkov, Goc, Shore and Gomez someone will be the odd man out.

I think both posts above make some good points, a tribute to Roger Neilson would be nice or a tribute to the blue collar Panthers and coaches that went to the Stanley Cup final but came up short. Bring in all the players from that team and have a video collage on the new HD scoreboard. I remember when they beat Pittsburgh and Mario said after the game that the Panthers were the "toughest team I ever played against," would be nice to find that footage for it.

Absolutely agree on Robert Svehla & Bure. Would like to see Ray Whitney night when Dallas comes to town. He was great. Johan Garpenlov would be good.

Sept. 20: vs. Dallas post game the final cuts so the Rampage know their team. Lot less players flying to Tampa Bay. You know the happiest guy on the plane to Tampa is they rookie who wasn't left behind in San Antonio.

Glad to se Markstrom signed... Would be surprised if Vince Trocheck didn't make the team. George, Panthers fans should see this video of Trocheck, I don't think most people down here realize how good he is... http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/video/index/id/a9ef58ca0bf0c9a0e956cd06779036b9 Possible lines Fleischmann Matthias Kopecky Huberdeau Barkov Upshall Bergenheim Goc Trocheck Howden Shore Crabb Puckbubba

I agree with jmike. Panthers didn't take Jones because he was not in the top 2 on their list. Lightning didn't take jones because he was not in the top 3 on their list. Joe Sakic told the media that there are three forwards that are too good to pass up. When you have a chance at an elite forward you draft him. No conspiracy by management to bypass Jones, they bypassed him to draft an elite forward. As a Panthers fan I am glad they did I am still mad at Panthers for taking Boumeester when they could have taken Rick Nash. Finally Panthers have a GM that knows what he is doing, a bad injury plagued year can't be blamed on him. I am glad he didn't overpay for some of the UFA, we still have Upshall and just dumped Parros and Kuba, those UFA signings were Tallon's mistakes and many of the UFA signed this year throughout the league will be mistakes. Give Tallon time, there are some reasonable UFAs available and trades to be made.
