Picking fabric for Olivia + Mia's new quilt is fun. It's the best part, isn't it? So fun to play with color and pattern when you're not yet committed to anything. At that point ~ where you're simply pulling prints from the shelves and throwing them all together in a... Continue reading

There's been far too much work stuff and not enough fun sewing lately. (I took the pic below for my secret summer project which I talked about on Pat Sloan's podcast ~ see the link in my sidebar ~ Did you catch it?) And I managed some fun sewing the... Continue reading

boo hoo. Since I was working all summer, I crammed all the fun I could into those last two weeks and then wham! ~ it was time for the kids to go back to school. I've got mixed emotions about that, like I'm sure a lot of you do. I've... Continue reading

Still here. We're all surviving summer. How 'bout you? The tomatoes on the balcony are growing in like grapes. The kids are turning golden tan and growing, growing ~ so fast (I wonder if there's something in the pool water?) Mia is a babbling wonder ~ she talks a mile... Continue reading

Again, I have to admit ~ I wasn't intending to make a "mouse house" for Mia. Again, something I began sewing turned into something completely different. It's a prototype fail, but a "mouse house" success. Do you know the book, "Goodnight Moon"? (Within those cardboard pages you'll find Mia's favorites:... Continue reading

Sometimes what you finish... ... is not at all what you started. And it's loved even more because of that. I was contacted by the friendly folks over at World Book Media, who have come up with the genius idea of translating some of the cutest Japanese zakka patterns into... Continue reading

Whenever I get a good photo I get really excited. It's a luck thing for me because I still don't know how to use my cameras after all these years (I've got a Sony and a Canon). There's only one thing I know for sure: Don't use the flash... oh,... Continue reading

I wasn't just teasing. I've got those 42 fat quarters right here... Thanks to the good folks at RJR Fabrics, I've got this fat quarter bundle of "Everything But the Kitchen Sink X" to give to one of you! But first, I want to show you the quilt I made... Continue reading

Mia, the wonder baby, turned 2 yesterday and we celebrated at the park with friends. Cupcakes, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, sunshine and green grass ~ these were our party supplies. We sang to her and said, "Happy Birthday, Mia!" a thousand times but she had no idea what it meant. It... Continue reading

It's beginning to look a lot like summer... And honestly... I'm terrified. As a mom, I'm always a little bit intimidated at the task of filling up those long summer days ~ keeping the kiddos busy, entertained, and properly fed. It's a hard enough job when it's you're only job,... Continue reading

So much has been happening at this casa lately ~ so much life, too much work ~ and all in the midst of a heat wave. Ack, but I crumple in heat. Add to that a series of looming deadlines, and you'll understand why I'm constantly praying for grace under... Continue reading

hello! It's my turn! Everything Lori Holt creates is simply charming. Period. You know ~ the quilts, the fabric, the cottage, the rulers, the videos, the books ~ all as if they've been touched by a wave of a magic wand. Of course her newest book, Great Granny Squared, is... Continue reading

I think I've finished this baby quilt just in time... The mama-to-be wanted a quilt just like this one ~ but she wanted it to look more vintage-y in pink, white, mint, and yellow. While choosing fabrics, she 100% fell in love with Aneela Hoey's bouquet print. Then we added... Continue reading

The Easter bunny did a great job of delivering sweets and small toys for the kids this year. Nicholas, Olivia and Mia were so excited about what the bunny brought them ~ it set a joyous tone for the rest of the day. The gorgeous weather also helped. The sunset.... Continue reading

When Livi told me she wanted a "Frozen" party, I immediately reached for my Martha Stewart snowflake paper-punches to unleash the flurry within ~ you know, like Elsa. Just as she swirled and twirled her hands in "Let It Go" I envisioned myself creating our own icy winter wonderland. Ha!... Continue reading

When I first began sewing I wondered about this and I asked the question to my fellow sewing friends who all responded differently... In the end, I found that I can't be bothered with pre-washing and I haven't had any problems. So, no. I don't pre-wash ;)

yep, there are many bright stars in my sky. Olivia is one of 'em, and she's just turned six. She is such a funny combination of sweet and sass ~ she is a pillar of strength, an avalanche of questions, the pickiest eater I've ever met, a snuggle-bunny through and... Continue reading
