Did this one over the weekend and I'm excited to have some really good White Russians, while watching The Big Lebowski of course!
Jammy Chick-ahlua: Chocolate & Coffee liqueur.
Otherwise known as enhanced Kahlua. Better Than Kahlua. Because, really, adding chocolate makes everything better. And what is not improved by adding chocolate is improved by adding bacon. Bacon flavored liqueur, while intriguing, will have to wait. There are quite a few recipes for Kahlua-typ...
I've never attempted English Muffins before this one. I agree with msf, I don't think I'll be buying grocery store muffins again!
Homemade English Muffins.
As usual, I'm running along behind the latest foodie bandwagon yelling 'Wait! Wait for me!'. English Muffins are everywhere I look, from new cookbooks to blogs to TV shows. Or maybe I just never really paid attention before. Anyway, with the same urge that drives me to knit socks and longing...
Wow plenty of ideas for those preserved lemons. I'm glad I have a few gems now to save up. Thanks!
Glazed carrots with preserved lemon.
This wraps up our preserved lemon leitmotif, for now. But there are still jars lurking in the cabinet, and plenty of ideas. How about paper-baked salmon with preserved lemon and zucchini? Or a cold bulgar salad with preserved lemon and edamame? Or a moroccan-inspired lamb stew with preserved l...
Good information! I became very close with a group of Eastern Europeans a few years back and I know how important tea is to a culture. Not to mention it's just plain good. I like this little info article a nice pic to accompany would be a good addition, I overlooked this post when I first read the blog for lack of picture.
A proper cup of tea.
I've spent some time in the UK so I know what a good cuppa is supposed to be, and I found Christopher Hitchens' article about decent tea on slate.com incredibly amusing in a so-true-it's-painful way. Tea in the US sucks, generally. Everyone who wants good tea should print this and hand it to the...
Great hummus ideas! I love the little variations you put as a last thought. I usually will do my own tweaking but it's nice that you think outside the box too! Keep em' coming!
Preserved Lemon Hummus
Dense hummus makes me sad. It lures me in with promises of ethereal loveliness and then doesn't deliver. Some people, perhaps many people, don't mind. They may actually enjoy such solid hummus. I crave something lighter, tangier and altogether different. This hummus is light and delicate, but ...
I like this way of preserving lemons. I've made a lemon confit in the past but it's just too salty for some dishes. This is a much better option. Thanks for the post!
Preserved Sunshine
Meyer lemons are like the memory of sunshine after a long stretch of cold and grey winter - bright and zesty, with the promise of spring flowers that will soon be here as if they had never gone. Preserved lemons are such an easy way to keep these beauties around after their season has passed...
