“Happiness was never in my vocabulary,” said Janis, three years after the death of her husband. I Never Said I Wasn’t Happy is a documentary film that explores the life choices of the filmmaker’s mother who married in the mid-60s, in the midst of great (alleged) social change in the United States. The film explores the past marriage and Janis’s new life after her husband’s death, through the lens of the daughter’s questions. Continue reading
