My inner creativity comes from the many people and events that took place in my life growing up in Louisville, Kentucky. I am at my best when I'm redecorating or getting ready to host a party, baking or cooking for a neighbor in need, or rearranging furniture and displays of my collections.
Interests: Sewing, Baking, Crafting, Collecting, Decorating, Planning/Hosting Parties, making decorating concepts "my own".

I am actually decorating very modestly this year. I have very important family obligations that have shuffled my priorities. Alas, there is always next year! Thank you for your interest in my blog and previous Halloween celebration decorating efforts. I do try to create/make something that will appeal to every age group! Happy decorating! Happy Halloween!

My husband’s and my business takes us around the country and the world on travel to meet clients. This June we found ourselves on a trip that took us through 9 states. By the time we returned home to Florida, Clint (and I) had driven almost 5,000 miles in 12... Continue reading

I am so very sorry you did not attend! There were so many wonderful women to meet. And I am trying to stay in touch with as many as I can. There really is a joy among women who want to craft and share (stories, supplies, compliments/encouragement) with each other! Best to you!

I made a flag from the scraps of fabric I have been using to make buntings this week. The dimensions are a bit off and don't bother to count the "stars"-there aren't enough of them. Or stripes either! Still, I am thrilled with the results and know that my next... Continue reading

I feel very, very fortunate to have found that cookie cutter. I certainly wasn't looking for it-I think it found me! The lattice idea was by accident too. I am glad to have stumbled upon that solution too and thrilled that you like it. I wish you good baking and Happy Independence Day!

One of the highlights of my trip to the Mary Engelbreit Workshop was at the end of the first day. Workshoppers were invited to the kitchen for an end-of-day wrapup with Mary. We were treated to cookies and gifts. A great combination! 2012 Home Companion Workshop poster Mary signed her... Continue reading

I have a large cookie cutter collection. While some are more uncommon and valuable than others, there are few prized by my self as this plastic American flag cookie cutter. Added to my collection after a trip to Renninger’s last year, I was delighted to use it to make cookies... Continue reading

While I am glad to be back in Orlando, there is no place like the 2012 Mary Engelbreit Home Companion Workshop! The 2012 Home Companion Workshop poster showed us the way. Workshoppers!!! This way! It was a wonderful experience. Where do I begin to share it with you? I cannot... Continue reading

The pin-keeps were well received! They came in handy during my Charm Sampler class too! My classmate worked vey hard to plan and lay out her work and it was going to be really cute but she did not embroider the first stitch! She used her pins to keep the fabric squares in place for travel home!
What fun it would be to share our progress if you take the class too! Hillary

My fabulous weekend trip to St. Louis where I attended the Mary Engelbreit Home Companion Workshop turned into an extended trip that lasted an additional 7 days. Almost immediately upon arrival in Orlando I re-boarded a plane that would take me to meet my husband in Columbus, OH. Clint was... Continue reading

Preparation for the 4th of July, Independence Day, was a very exciting time in my household when I was growing up in Louisville, Kentucky. My father’s fondness for this holiday was evident in the special care he took to prepare our home for the annual yard party. Stored in the... Continue reading

Several months ago I paused to gaze about in a booth at Renningers Antiques and Farmers & Flea Market in Mt. Dora, Florida. It was the interesting collection of items in a glass case that caught my eye that day. I inquired from the vendor about both a small, enameled... Continue reading

April 15th. April 15th. The bane of every tax-paying American. April 15th. The anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. April 15th. The anniversary of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. April 15th. The date of my first Etsy sale! It is a red-letter day on my calendar! Last evening, after... Continue reading

I enjoy collecting many different vintage items and my collection is ever expanding. Recently, a special part of my collection has served as an inspiration for my contemporary and hand made interpretations of many items I hold most dear; my collection of political and patriotic collectibles. I look for political... Continue reading

My Presidents' Day mantle display. I bought the eagle and bunting piece above the mantle at Renningers in January. I enjoy collecting many different vintage items and am always looking to expand my collection. To that end, I had great success attending Renningers Antiques and Collectors Extravaganza in Mount Dora,... Continue reading

Gingerbread cookies may not immediately come to mind when considering additions to your Thanksgiving Day Feast buffet, but it should when they are shaped and iced to look like Turkeys! Many years ago I was looking to make more child friendly additions to my Thanksgiving Day dessert buffet. Not every... Continue reading

Originally celebrated as a day of feasting and prayer to offer thanks to God for the abundance of the harvest by Pilgrims, modern Thanksgiving Day celebrations in American homes have expanded the festivities to include parades, ball games and strategizing for Black Friday shopping. In our family home, Thanksgiving Day... Continue reading

Last Friday morning, the host on a national talk show mentioned that she was going to carve her Halloween pumpkin with her children that evening. It left me with the nicest “Kodak Moment” image of giggling children pulling out seeds and squishing them between their fingers. Soon there would be... Continue reading
