You Rock. So many people want to be "cool," so portray themselves in ways THEY think OTHER people think are cool... and end up being so not cool :) Actual cool people portray themselves as they actually are, publicly like the things they actually like, and embrace their actual passions. Authenticity, Wil. It's so refreshing.
So glad you stuck it out. Sad to hear you had a painful ride, though. Kudos for choosing to let it strengthen you. You are the epitome of COOL for so many people now :) But, more importantly, your enormous decency is apparent in everything that you do.

So, while I'm putting together the last few things I need to take to PAX, I realized I forgot to mention something: ten years ago yesterday, I started my blog at WWdN*. Ten years ago today, Metafilter declared that it was "lame,"** and most of the Internet was really shitty to me about the whole...
I wonder, Wil, if you are familiar with themoth.org.

You want to accept Anorak’s Invitation. Trust me.
I love narrating audiobooks, because it gives me a rare opportunity to combine my love of reading with my love of performing into something that hopefully entertains people, and gets the Bursar at Ryan's college off my back for another month. I did a few when I was much younger (Huck Finn, Tom S...
Enjoyed listening to the interview last weekend. Wil Wheaton's work and NPR - two of my favorite things in the world! :) Always appreciate your authenticity.

I was twelve going on thirteen when I made the movie that changed my life
Twenty-five years ago today, on my future wife's 17th birthday, a movie I did called Stand By Me was released. I didn't know it at the time, but it would define my childhood and change my life. Here are a few things I wanted to share, to mark the occasion. I talked to NPR last week about Stand B...
That makes me sad. I am such a firm believer in the importance of setting personal boundaries, and those who would continue to push after being told, "No," are highly aggressive and inappropriate. Regardless of your social or professional status, you are an individual with the right to express when you are uncomfortable and expect those boundaries to be respected. Being assertive shows self-awareness, confidence and self-respect. Well done.

if you cut me, i will bleed
Pretty much all of Comicon was awesome. However, there was one thing that was decidedly not awesome, and though I had initially decided not to talk about it in public, it's bothered me since it happened, so I wrote about it on G+ earlier today. I'm cross posting it here, though, because it's imp...

Sigh. Awomen, Wil! Always so appreciate your authenticity. After I posted about kindness recently, a friend responded with the following quote, "When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another." -- Helen Keller (1880-1968) American Writer
"There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind."
The list of Stuff I Need to Write About just keeps getting bigger and bigger ... so instead of trying to tackle it right now, I give you this, from my Twittersbox a little bit ago: When you're fortunate enough to have success and love what you do, you have a choice: Be kind and grateful, or be ...
