I can't help but make a Hunger Games connection to Kony. For people who don't know about the Hunger Games( weirdos), It is a story about kids from 12 districts all over Panem who are put into an areana each year to fight to the death. It is a cruel way to keep people from over ruling and to let the districts know who's boss. Now everyone in the districts are required to watch these gruesome games each year as a reminder of how much control the captipol has. I know thats not exactly what's going on with the stop... And I was like .. why are you so obsessed with me?
There is no question that Hagar is inlove with Milkman. When we were first introduced to their relationship, we kind of get a feel that Milkman was the one who was out of his league, falling for an older women, who happens to be his cousin. Morrison tells us that he was inlove with her ever since he saw her, which lead us to believe that Milkman was going to end up being with her, but my my did Morrison spin the story. A few years later we find out that Hagar and Milkman have been HAVING INTERCOURSE! and dating... Continue reading

Operation Robots
Let me start of by saying that I agree with Mr.Heidkamp when he says we are participants as well as observers. If no one bought these amazing, perfect Apple products, these people wouldn't be in the circumstances they are in right now. I'll admit to being completely ignorant for thinking that Apple used robots to make these beautiful merchandises. Wouldn't it make more sense? You wouldn't have to feed the machines, wouldn't have have to worry about working them out, no worries about lunch and bathroom breaks. Lets be real guys. Apple and Foxxcon is not going to listen to... Continue reading

It's kind of dark in here ..
Today in class, Mr.Heidkamp assigned us groups and told us to recreate the painting mentioned in Part 1 that was drawn by Mr.Kurtz, and was told to write out it's allegory. The quote is " Then i noticed a small sketch in oils, on a panel, representing a woman, draped and blindfolded, carrying a lighted torch. The background was sombre- almost black. The movement of the women was stately, and the effect of the torchlight on the face was sinister"(36). What do you think the painting's allegory is? Could the blindfold represent the ignorance of women and the torch represent... Continue reading

Snape Snape . . Severus Snape
My blog is about Harry Potter because it's awesome. When I think of the word "tragic", Snape's life comes to my mind. He loved Lilly, Harry's mother, ever since he first layed eyes on her! He helped her through situations, had her back, and always reassured her that she wasn't wierd . . and helped her become one of the best witches in history. No big deal right? I've always disliked Snape. I thought he was cruel and bitter, but in the last book/ last movie, when Voldemort killed Snape, I cried like a baby. When we saw the truth... Continue reading

She wears the pants . .
In class yesterday, we kind of touched on Goneril and Albany's relationship. Mr.Heidkamp said how it seems like she is the one who makes all the decisions. We see in Act 1 how Goneril treats Lear with disrespect and then when Albany tries to calm her down, she just shushes him. During the confrontation with Lear and Goneril , he kind of steps out of it and says " My lord, I am guiltless, as I am ignorant,Of what hath moved you." He tries to stay out of their fight and acts like he knows nothing about it. Who do... Continue reading

you're perfect just the way you are.
I picked Shakespear's Sonnet 130, because I think it's one of the cutest sonnets ever. The sonnet is: My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun; Coral is far more red than her lips' red; If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. I have seen roses damask'd, red and white, But no such roses see I in her cheeks; And in some perfumes is there more delight Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks. I love to hear her speak, yet well I know That... Continue reading

Crazy in Love
In The Awakening, Chopin uses male roles to portray Edna's defiance of society's expectations for the 19th century women. In the beginning of the book, Edna cheats emotionally on her husband with a man named Robert. He then travels to Mexico with hopes to stop his temptations for her. Edna then cheats on her husband physically with a man named Arobin, who she met while she was out with a few friends. What do you think Chopin is trying to portray by setting up Edna with all these men? Is she trying to say that Edna does not care about... Continue reading

Happily ever after?
So even though we already finished Light in August. I have a few concerns with the ending. Do you think that ending was suitable for the book? Should Faulkner have put Byron and Lena together without a destination? Do you think if he wrote a sequel they' ll find Lucas? Continue reading

May the devil be with you . .
It was difficult trying to pick a passage and post this week because there was soooo many that we've read, but i've gone with the one that stuck out to me the most. When Byron goes on his weekly visits to Hightower, he talks about Lena. He has came up with a master plan to allow Lena to go and reside in Christmas's and Brown's place and he camps outside. Hightower is not a fan of this idea. He is actually really against it. He says, " Go away. Leave Jefferson. You don't need my help. You are already being... Continue reading

The Same Trouble as Yesterday Please!
As i was reading chapter 3 in Light in August, a quote really caught my attention. It was the quote, " It is because a fellow is more afraid of the trouble he might have than he ever is of the trouble he's already got. He'll cling to trouble he's used to before he'll risk a change. Yes. A man will talk about how he'd like to escape from living folks. But it's the dead folks that do him the damage. It's the dead ones that lay quiet in one place and don't try to hold him, that he cant... Continue reading

Like Father Like Dog?
In the movie Trust, there is a character named Matthew, who is struggling because he seems to have an anger issue and has a bad reputation. Things aren't great at home, because his dad is always hard on him and always yelling at him or hitting him. In the movie, Matthew and his dad gets in an argument and Matthew says that he was "going to move out". His dad then laughs at him and tells him to clean the bathroom. Matthew's dad has the mindset that Matthew will never go any where and be stuck at home with him... Continue reading

My son, because your heart is blind . .
In the last chapter of The Stranger, Mersault refuses too see the chaplain. His reasoning for this is because he doesn't believe in god so he thinks that he doesn't have anything or anyone to confess too. When the chaplain comes to his cell and talks to Mersault. Things get critical. The chaplain begins to tell Mersault, " You're wrong, my son. More could be asked of you. And it may be asked. You could be asked to see". (118) Mersault then gets frustrated and confused. He states that he does not see what the chaplain see's. They then get... Continue reading

Sunstroke?
So ... Meursault is cray cray. Let me be the first to wonder why he killed the Arab? I understand that he felt the sun on his neck, there were tears in his eyes and the Arab had a knife to his neck . . but shooting him 4 times? Is that necessary? All I know is that when i read those words, I wanted to throw the book down on the ground. Continue reading
