This will be my last post on this blog and on the TypePad blogging platform. I don't expect to return to standard blogging either. I have grown tired of how blogging platforms operate but more importantly, other bloggers are much better suited at continuous content etc than I. I do,... Continue reading

I'd imagine that these cases reflect how little the couples involved actually knew about each other BEFORE they got married.

Until FIFA 12 ships next month, the same month that'll be picking up a Kindle, my time will be devoured by a basin-full of videogaming Sci-fi. Otherwise I have been disappointed with what videogames have to offer me right now. I have reached a saturation point that I'm devoting less... Continue reading

Am curious which band had you not heard of? Possibly the Subhumans as they were a UK band that went on to develop into Culture Shock. It was 1987 when a friend who I'd know from primary school(We are still close friends), who had an influence over my musical tastes of Metal, introduced me to Napalm Death's 'Scum' LP. That album & the subsequent gigs that I went to coloured my character through to the mid to late 90s. Funny how we both have a common bond in our past through music, I wonder if our politics are similar?

One of my habits of late sees me spin through the iTunes store looking for new music that surpases my personal purple period of the late '80s and early to mid 90's. Since that time, music has offered very me very little. Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places... Continue reading

Did you see the last two episodes of the current season of Luther? If you're a gamer and haven't watched them yet then set aside some time to catch these episodes. Other than the referencing to the use of dice to make judgment calls - à la The Dice Man... Continue reading

While removing old files from my Mac, my finger of delete hovered over an article I had been planning to write for an online magazine. The article is incomplete and in rough but instead of developing on it more I thought I'd post it here as is. Maybe you have... Continue reading

You'll happy now? Preordered your CE? Am happy for you. Enjoy. Just remember where SWG is now and what it was. All things come to an end - good or bad. It's when you don't know when to close the book, is when the respect is lost. MMO's have shown... Continue reading

@liambp American Gods is my first Gaiman novel - I've read his comic book work previously. I have been told that it is one of his best pieces of work and is proving to be very readable. Funny that you mention Terry Pratchett as they wrote a book together 'Good Omens' back in 1990. Have also read that there are plans afoot to produce a TV series based on American Gods. I believe it has something to do with Tom Hanks and his Playtone production company.

A week in the Algarve was a very welcome break for my wife and I. We would've enjoyed a few more nights out there to be honest but our first visit to Portugal was everything we hoped it would be. I didn't burn. Saw my first Chameleon. Experienced only my... Continue reading

Before I went to see X-Men First Class this past weekend, I read a good summary of the movie over at Clandestine Critic. I have to agree with what was written by David Norman on his blog, it's a good movie but I'd not go as far as to say... Continue reading

jl Just to make a further point that I made in my last post, the above 15 mins of gameplay of Bioshock Infinite has to be one of the best looking gameplay demos I have seen this year. While most will be thrilled by the look and seamless action shown... Continue reading

Releasing gameplay footage before release is much more likely to increase sales upon release. As long as what is shown is polished and is representative of the game as a whole. And yeah I can think of many movies that I only need to watch the trailer to see the best material.

Trailers for videogames, like movies, don't tell the whole story. Edited to hype but also manipulate the viewer into believing these short fabrications of belief. Unlike movies, there has been a recent trend to release actual gameplay of future videogames. These 12 or so minute gameplay demos tell much more... Continue reading

Ha! You need't worry as all my 'online only' friends have a special place on my FB account. This was an experiment born from a hunch about certain RL friends & their approach on social networks. Portugal was very hot but very relaxing. I enjoyed every crumb, thanks.

So I'm back from my summer holiday break - did you miss me?! No?! That's fine. I don't blame you... ...just before leaving for Portugal, I decided to try a little social experiment to prove a theory I had. My Facebook account is now around the 50 or so friends... Continue reading

Back in 2008 I wrote my first review of a game that had been sent to me by the respective PR company. It was a less than complimentary review and scored just above a 5 (out of 10). Since that review there has been exactly zero review code from said... Continue reading

I don't miss playing MMOs. I don't miss feeling lethargic or languid while trying to decide upon which MMO to play because the community vitality - or lack of it - dictates. I don't miss chasing my tail. I don't miss patching, crashing or lag. I don't miss the fact... Continue reading

Just before E3 started I finally completed the campaign in CoD Modern Warfare 2. I hadn't played it since 2009 and of the five titles I have completed in 2011, four have been at least a year old. This could well be a trend for me over the coming months... Continue reading

I picked up season 1 cheap & have watched one episode so far. It has the feel of a slow-burner like the Sopranos was in the early seasons.

E3 news is starting to heat up. The 8 minutes of gameplay that Bethesda have released of their title Rage again reinforces my opinion that this title will do much better than the recent Brink release. So that's a preorder I'll be keeping. The video itself does a nice job... Continue reading

Studying at an undergraduate level for the last 8 months have help hone my writing skills to a degree. I'm not studying again until October so my opportunity to post here with a far greater frequency. I also hope not to move blog platforms again.
