We were bummed by the rain delay coverage as well. They did broadcast the last few overs the next day at noon here in Scotland. Sorry to say Nadal won pretty easily! This grey cloud seems to be hovering over most of the Northern Hemisphere. Banish it away, I say! My toddler is desperate to be out of doors and running nudie into her swimming pool.
One project (Quill) is on the needles, one project...
One project (Quill) is on the needles, one project (Alpine Frost) is on the hook. Both are perfectly suited to my mood lately. I alternate between them. I need 97 ridges of garter on the Quill and am somewhere in the 60s; then I can start the first lace border. The pattern for the ...
Brilliant! That's twice in the last few weeks you have made me laugh out loud (really)! If that's not authentic writing, I don't know what is. Keep it coming! :)
Professionalism.
I've been having all these conversations with fellow bloggers lately about the importance of being authentic in your writing. About only posting when you've got something of consequence to say, or a story to tell, and certainly only when you are prepared to do a nice job of things. Well, with...
We currently live in Scotland (moved up from Australia last year - yes, we're wanderers) and have This is London and This is Paris. Even though my daughter is only 2 1/2, she really enjoys looking at them before we travel to that city, and then recognizing some of the landmarks. (Mom and Dad enjoy the history…and we're certain she will too in a few years.) A brilliant series, in my humble opinion!
Library Monday: This is San Francisco.
As many of you already know, we aren't really Vermonters, we are just pretending for a bit while the husband goes to medical school in the Green Mountain State. I do love many, many things about Vermont, but as a longtime California girl, there are times when I feel more than a bit nostalgi...
Thanks for reminding me of why I love cross-stitch…I think it's a zen thing. Just ordered my kit (and a few supplies) and can't wait to get settled in! Fantastic design. Thank you! (P.S. Love seeing photos of the Pacific Northwest - I grew up there - downloaded into my Reeder here in Scotland!)

Congratulations on seven years, and just to reiterate what everyone else has said: thank you for a daily breath of fresh Maine air! Your writing and photographs inspire so many, including this crazy girl. On a side note, are those orange flannel pyjama bottoms?? Yummy!
snowy day
On Saturday morning, Adelaide was the first to wake us up with a pull-back of the curtains to share what she had already seen out her own window. It had snowed. Quite a bit more than the light flurries we were expecting to wake up to. The news spread quickly from babe to child and room to room. ...
Love the owl outer design! Would love to try this for my second child. Thanks!

Just Google'd "RJR orange flannel," and came up with a number of sites with the Orange Blocks, Boabab Flannels by RJR fabrics still available, including this one:
http://www.creativequiltkits.com/orange-blocks-baobab-flannels-by-rjr-fabrics.html
Orange is one of my favourite colours, and my 2 year-old daughter has just deemed it her second favourite (behind purple, of course), so I'll probably be plundering their site as soon as I log off here. :) Love the boys' jammies!
all together now
We have a little rhythm that's evolved since we've lived here, since the boys have grown a bit older and a new little one was added to the bunch. After dinner, while Steve and I begin the post-dinner, before-bed wind-down with the littlest ones, the (big) boys clean up, wash and put away...
This isn't a reply, but just a second of that question because I was wondering the same thing. Do you recommend buying fat quarters? Or do you stock up in yards?
it's time!
Friends, December first is upon us! It's time to get our craft on! Just like Adelaide, I've been gathering, and collecting and piling up all my 'ingredients' to play with. A little bit of 'new' fabric has come in to join the fabric shelves (not for long), and inspire some making... I have no p...
WOW. Seriously. I can see why you're in love with it ('cause I would be as well)! Fabulous gift by a non-builder. ;)
our harvest table
I will do my best to restrain my over-the-top excitement about this for your sake, but the plain and simple truth is that I LOVE THIS TABLE. I really, really love this table. I walk into the kitchen, even when I don't have to, just to look at this table and be reminded that it's here. I'm insp...
Hi, Amanda! Could you substitute vegetable oil for the coconut oil? We live in the UK, and I'm sure I'll be able to find coconut oil at Tesco. ;) Thanks!
Our pumpkin muffins
It was a good squash year for us. The pie pumpkins we tucked away in the cellar are coming up almost each day, without seeming to make a dent so far in the stash. This is good! And so is all the fun we're having playing with all those pumpkins in the kitchen. Pumpkin soup, pumpkin bread, pump...
