This is a really interesting article, Adam! I totally agree about the epilogue trying to say the unsayable. But I think something to consider as far as the "nihilism" of the novel is the overlooked question of why Raskolnikov became proud in the first place before he ever sinned. I think Christian theology and psychology have a lot to say about that, which may be precisely the point: grace as a salvation from our very human neuroses.
