Victoria has been really into reporting about things. She asked me to make this video when we built boats a few weeks ago with our friends. I have to admit... I had no idea what I was doing, the editing helped a little bit, but the camera work definitely needs... Continue reading

The story of Izabel Laxamana that is going around the internet right now reminded me of something very important that we have a tendency to forget as adults: how dependent of their looks our young adults are. This young girl's suicide came shortly after her father shaved her head for... Continue reading

Lately, Victoria has been back to her non-sleep pattern where she squirms and cries the whole night. From being able to sleep the night away in her bed, she goes to needing to be held and massaged all night long. I know that the pattern usually goes hand in hand... Continue reading

Victoria loves washing her little craft table, but I thought that we'd make a bot that could help her make clean up time even more fun(ny)... I'm not sure whether this is good parenting... I'm basically teaching her how to be a lazy house keeper! But it certainly is a... Continue reading

{this moment} ~ A Friday ritual as inspired by SouleMama. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment'... Continue reading

There is a new video, from Jimmy Kimmel's show, of him interrogating a young boy with a make shift lie detector. Hilarity ensues: the little boy gets told that his answers are somehow wrong, that he is lying, and viewers watch his confusion and embarrassment mount. I won't even post... Continue reading

I've been quiet for two weeks... Immediately after writing this post a huge fear of sharing it grabbed me, to the point where I couldn't write or share anything else... I was stuck! I wanted to share this post, but sharing private things about my health, and about my childhood... Continue reading

This was our first week-end off since Christmas and we decided to go visit the little town of Cambria, and drive to see the Elephant Seal Rookery. It was so impressive to watch them stretch out for miles and miles of beach! These humongous animals migrate every year, thousands of... Continue reading

Of course Nicholle! :)
Thanks Jen, it's always fun to teach her how to use tools!

Victoria has never been a big bicycle girl. She won her first tricycle years ago during an Easter Egg hunt where she found the golden egg, and never once used it. After a while of trying to encourage her to use that tricycle, then a "big girl" bike with side... Continue reading

Hello Everyone... This week we are off for a vacation. For us break times are rare I'm usually working two or three jobs continuously for months on end, so this is a very special treat. For the beginning of the week I get to spend a bit of time at... Continue reading

Every homeschooling family's path has a beginning. Some of us know from the get-go that we do not want to send our children to school, and some of us stumble on this path because we observe an emotional or academic need in our child that is not being met in... Continue reading

There are a few tricks that I have used so far to teach Victoria about money, and about consumerism in general. I have always been very scared of watching my daughter look at the world that we live in and want... want... want... It is almost impossible for children not... Continue reading

It is important for me to give Victoria confidence in her ability to solve problems and come up with new ideas. This TED talk triggered a great exercise that we now play almost on a daily basis and that not only makes Victoria confident in her grasp of the English... Continue reading

Rescuing Lulu was a wonderful thing when it happened. In a city like ours there are a lot of stray dogs, and most of the time I look at them and leave them alone. Depending on the area I know that they are getting their needs met, or that they... Continue reading

It is nice! And yes I have the same thing happen when Victoria tries to watch one of her crazy cartoons during family movie night! All of us agreeing on one movie can be a thirty minute discussion at times...
I know! I have to take pictures of those dolls! Things have been too crazy with photography... soon though! :)
They were! They absolutely love King's Day... and it's somehow more special because we are the only ones we know that celebrate it... it's our fun "secret" holiday ;)
