Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) devices are used to transfer data from a tag attached to an object for the purposes of automatic identification and tracking. In the past RFID chips have been used mainly in pets and livestock, however recently RFID implantation in humans has been advertised as being "the norm" in American Society. This implantation will supposedly enhance lifestyle through technology; giving ordinary citizens the magic that makes security gates swing open without swiping a card, and bridge and tunnel traffic flow smoothly without an E-ZPass. While also allowing individuals to log onto computers, open doors, unlock their cars, obtain... Continue reading

Lately what is known as a RFID ( radio frequency identification device) has become advertised as being "the norm" in American Society, giving ordinary humans the same magic that makes security gates swing open with a swipe of a card, and bridge and tunnel traffic flow smoothly with an E-ZPass. With the wave of a hand someone can log onto a computer, open doors and unlock their car. This relatively simple procedure would also obtain access to bank account information, social security information, etc. The New York Times article discusses the trend of implanting an RFID chip in yourself known... A major issue when it comes to the internet is online purchasing and the fraud that can be associated with this action called E-tail fraud. When most people think of E-tail fraud they think of consumers being scammed, however on many occasions the merchants themselves are scammed aswell which can result in the loss of large amounts of revenue. The article "E-tail Fraud Remains a threat" by Joanna Glasner discusses E-tail fraud at its stage in 2004, when it was already in full affect. According to a survey commissioned by CyberSource, a developer of online payment-processing technology, merchants during this... Continue reading

Whether or not the violence in video games has an affect on our youth has been a politically controversial issue for many years. Some argue that violence in video games has caused their child to express actions of violence or harm at home or outside of the home towards peers. While others have argued that if parents don't want their children to be influenced by these video games than simply don't allow them access to the games. Do violent video games actually have an affect on a child's behavior? Based on my research there appears to be a widespread opinion... Continue reading

Since becoming a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated; I have come to the realization that my actions now not only represent me but my fraternity as a whole and that one mistake or ungentlemanly behavior can not only give my entire organization a bad reputation. Another realization i have come to is that there are numerous stereotypes about Greek life already set in the minds of many people, that can unfortunately place a label on an affiliated individual. Dr. J of singleblackmale.org states that there are five major misconceptions of black greek letter organizations: http://www.singleblackmale.org/2011/08/30/five-biggest-misconceptions-about-black-greek-life/ From my personal... In my three year's of college i have learned that there are numerous factors that can play a large role in one's reputation. This is especially the case here at Old Westbury where there is an abundance of students attempting to fit the status quo and willing to do what it takes to accomplish this, not worrying about how their actions might tarnish their reputation or what factors may already be in place that play a role in their reputation. Some major examples of these factors include: your nationality or ethnic background, what borough or state your from, your gender,... Continue reading
