Melanie McCaw
Manchester, England.
Aspiring YA novelist trapped in the world of 9-5.
Interests: I enjoy writing of all kinds- articles, blog posts, short stories, flash fiction, you name it I'll give it a go! I also enjoy all things vintage, baking when I have time and crafts. Oh, I'm an avid reader too! (What good writer isn't?) Mainly YA as that's my area of interest but I'll delve into other genres sometimes. Never Crime fiction though, cant stand it. Sorry.

..... you might just see Arwyn, Aedan, Brackh and Ceirah en route to The Council's base. Well, in your imagination at least! These are pictures of my local woods which provide the perfect backdrop for my story. Sad to say I didn't take them but they're so gorgeous I just... Continue reading

Tolkiens Middle Earth. In writing my novel I have opted to essentially create a new country and timeline for my characters to inhabit. Though it is largely inspired by the Celtic history of the British Isles, I have definitely taken artistic licence and created a new version of that history,... Continue reading

I am a firm believer in thinking outside of the box. In writing my novel, I am employing different methods in inspiring my creativity, and in planning the events which will drive my story. One of the most useful tools I have found is to locate images on which to... Continue reading

Inspired by @kseniaanske, I am currently compiling a playlist for my novel. I think its a great way to think laterally about my writing, by utilising another art form to express what it is I ultimately want to put into words. This playlist is comprised of both music that inspired... Continue reading

A brief excerpt from my Novel- Enjoy! Prologue I remember the day they came. The day they took me away from my parents. My first day of school. I turned five years old that very day. My parents had tried to keep what was about to happen from me, but... Continue reading
