Frankie Ballard's "Light Em Up" tour made a stop on November 15th in Silver Spring, Maryland just outside of Washington D.C. and I was curious to see if there was anything special about this particular artist. Well, I got more than I bargained for. Continue reading

EMI Nashville recording artist Eric Paslay has just released a fresh song to country radio, "She Don't Love You." He scored his first number one as an artist with the release of "Friday Night" earlier this year. However, keeping count of the number one song's he has co-written? Well, that's a bit more of a challenge. Continue reading

North Carolina native Chris Lane is bringing a fresh sound to country music. You could say he is a little rock, a little pop and a whole lot of country. His fan base continues to grow and his name is catching fire all over the U.S. He recently released his first single "Broken Windshield View" which will be on his upcoming EP album via Big Loud Mountain. RCA records recording artist Jake Owen is charming, handsome and extremely talented. Not only can he sing but apparently he is pretty fierce on the golf course as well. In September, 2011 he had his first #1 single titled "Barefoot Blue Jean Night." Shortly following that he also hit #1 with his singles "Alone With You" and "The One That Got Away." As if he wasn't already on a roll , Jake ended up with another #1 single titled "Anywhere With You." With four number ones back to back, it was clear that Jake Owen was making his mark in... Brad Paisley's "Country Nation Tour" rocked the DC area on Sept, 20 2014 at Jiffy Lube Live. Opening acts Leah Turner and Randy Houser started the show off right. Leah Turner took the stage and I immediately was swept away. She is gorgeous, sassy and talented..everything country music women should be made of. She performed "Take The Keys" as well as "Here's My Finger." Her vocals were strong and she had amazing stage presence. She also did her own version of the Dixie Chick's "Cowboy Take Me Away." I thought she owned it and made it sound unique. I am... Continue reading

Streamsound recording artist Austin Webb is using his platform to make a difference in the lives of those with Autism. On September 10th he hosted a StageIt show where all proceeds went to Autism Speaks, one of the leading organizations for Autism research. This isn't the first time Austin has donated his time and talent to Autism Speaks. Last October he performed during Autism Sings which was a benefit concert that took place at Jimmy Buffet's Margarittaville in Nashville, TN. On September 13th Austin was scheduled to play at the York, PA county fair on the radio stage which was... Continue reading

On September 9th, 2014 107.7 WGTY hosted a performance that everyone at the York County Fair was sure to remember. Chase Rice took the stage and immediately all the older folks got the hell out of the way while the party goers rushed the stage. Being at a Chase Rice show is kind of like taking a shot of energy and believe me it's 100 proof. I noticed right away he added a new drummer and a new guitar player. The drummer was overflowing with talent and even played blindfolded as Chase introduced him. I saw Chase a few months... Continue reading

Texas native Chase Bryant might be new to country radio, but he is no stranger to the industry. Being the nephew of Jeff & Junior Bryant, co-founders of the group Richochet, he has some amazing talent running through his veins. It's safe to say he was born for entertaining. In August of 2013 he signed with Red Bow Records and a year later his current single "Take It On Back" is catching fire all over. It's a little bit of traditional country with a rock & roll twist and I'm sure some would say it has a touch of pop... Continue reading

Colorado native Clare Dunn has hit music city wide open. Her current single "Get Out" is catching fire all over the place. She's gorgeous, talented and has hit the scene right on time. Country music is lacking female artists and Clare Dunn sure has a lot to bring to the table. After signing a publishing deal with BMG/Chrysalis, she's only looking forward from here on out. 1. At what age did you know you wanted to pursue music? I think I was around 10 or 11 2. What artists did you listen to growing up? Oh man everything! My dad... Continue reading

There has been so much uproar over the Taylor Swift announcements that it left me desperate for some real country music news. If you're tired of the pop-country nonsense and need some realness in your life, then raise your glass with me (okay, so it's only Monday but damnit I'm in need of a strong drink!) Columbia Nashville's Tyler Farr has released his new single to country radio titled "A Guy Walks Into A Bar." This is one of the biggest first week's in his career. The single has now impacted 52 total stations in the first week of it's... Continue reading

Jimmy Smith is a true vocalist, however, after he was sent home during season 12 of American Idol fans wondered what would be next. Would he continue singing and performing? Would he return to his day job and give up? One thing is for sure, Jimmy Smith is a fighter. From his huge upbeat personality to his exceptional vocals, Jimmy Smith is pure talent through and through. 1. At what age did you realize you wanted to pursue music? I'd say early on in high school when I began performing at school talent shows and ball games. The crowd reaction... Continue reading

On July 10th, 2014 I pulled up to the American Music Theatre in Lancaster, PA and was in awe as I saw the parking lot filled with senior citizens. Scotty McCreery is young, handsome and crazy talented. I expected young girls, kids and maybe even college girls. However, you learn something new every day. A guy named Clark Manson opened up for Scotty. He was the typical "main stream" act. For a second I wasn't interested, until he sang a song titled "Runnin' With The Night" from his current EP album. The lyrics were good, his stage presence was strong... Continue reading

Texas native Sunny Sweeney has one of the most distinct voices in country music. Her traditional country sound makes her one of the few female country artists who remain authentic. Sunny first hit country radio with her debut single "From A Table Away" in 2010. In 2011, the song peaked into the top 10 of the Hot Country Songs chart. She then released two more singles titled "Staying's Worse Than Leaving" and "Drink Myself Single" which were both top 40 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart. Currently, her new single "Bad Girl Phase" via Thirty Tigers continues to spread... Continue reading

Michigan native Frankie Ballard hit the country music scene full force back in 2010/2011 with his two top 30 singles titled "Tell Me You Get Lonely" and "A Buncha Girls." However, in 2014 he isn't just playing the game, he came to win. His first #1 single "Helluva Life" was one of the best songs on country radio at the time. It was also the leading single from his sophmore album Sunshine & Whiskey. Frankie's current single "Sunshine & Whiskey" continues to climb the country music charts and is the perfect summer sing-a-long. Frankie's unique voice and his ability to... Continue reading

For years all my friends and family have relied on me for all their 'new music' needs. I can't count the amount of private messages I get asking the same question, "I need some new music, what songs do you suggest?" I never claim to be a genius but if there is one thing I know... it's good music. I think it started when I was four years old and I would sing Bob Segar with my grandpa. I was hooked. Summer has now graced us with it's presence and I put together a list of the top 10 songs... Continue reading

Meet Georgia native Sam Hunt. No need to worry if you haven't heard his name before because chances are you've heard his songs on country radio. Sam co-wrote Kenny Chesney's "Come Over" and has also written songs such as Keith Urban's "Cop Car" and Billy Currington's "We Are Tonight." In September, 2013 Sam independently released a song titled "Raised On It." However, in January 2014 he signed with MCA Nashville. Sam's music is unique and blends together a nice mix of country and pop. Usually, I would be turned off by music like this as I'm pretty big on my... Continue reading

Missouri native Sara Evans has one of the best voices in country music. She has been bringing us amazing country music and has been a household name since 1998. Some of her number one hit's include No Place That Far, Born To Fly and Suds In The Bucket. Her fifth #1 titled "A Little Bit Stronger" was co-written by Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott. Her current single "Slow Me Down" is continuing to rise on the country music charts. Sara released... Continue reading

When it comes to music, I know what's good and what's not. Searching on YouTube one day I found this video of a young man from Georgia singing a Brantley Gilbert cover. Then it happened...goosebumps. My search started there, I knew I had to find this guy and see what he was about. DJ Lavine grew up in Bloomingdale, GA. He has been singing since he was just a kid and even sang in choir during elementary school. Although music wasn't enough to keep him out of trouble as a teenager. It wasn't until after he was out of school... Continue reading

It seems we are on a roll with our #MCM each week hailing from the amazing state of GA. What can we say? Apparently Georgia knows how to grow em'. Craig Campbell is not only one of the best dressed men in country music but also one of the few artists to actually stick to his roots. If Tracy Lawrence and Tim Mcgraw had a baby, well let's just say his name would be Craig Campbell. His first single was released in July, 2010 titled "Family Man." It entered the top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. In... Continue reading

His #1 debut single "Chillin It" is one of the most well known songs of this year. He also released his debut album Cole Swindell back in Febuary, 2014 via Warner Brothers. Charlotte, NC was pumped up to see Luke Bryan take the stage last night(5/29.) However, Luke seemed to have some bad luck when he fell off stage while performing. Check out the video of Luke below. For more country music news & gossip follow me via twitter @brittwv. Continue reading
