There is a small town nestled deep in western North Carolina that holds a secret, 25-year-old Andrew Chastain. Andrew is from Murphy, NC and spends his free time focusing on music. After seeing a youtube video he uploaded, I knew I had to dig deeper. What music did you listen to growing up? I can remember being about 4 years old and hearing my babysitter's son blasting Garth Brooks "The Thunder Rolls" from his bedroom and I think that sealed the deal right there. Living in the middle of nowhere with only a couple radio stations to choose from ,... Continue reading

I stumbled upon a video on YouTube of this man singing a Easton Corbin cover and right away I had to find him. The moment he opened his mouth and started to sing, I felt like country music had made a comeback. It's amazing how much talent is on YouTube, when I hear Odiss Kohn sing it makes me hopeful that country music has a future. It was a pleasure to catch up with him for a much needed interview. At what age did you realize you wanted to pursue country music? I guess I had to be around the... Continue reading

John Mcdonald is your average West Virginia boy, however, when he is not working at the strip mine he is singing Lady Gaga covers. Oh come on, it's not country music but at least this version I can stomach. This 26-year-old Trace Creeker grew up listening to Hank Sr, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. His current influences are Eric Church, Justin Moore, and Jamey Johnson. He grew up in the backwoods and got his first guitar at fourteen, he wanted to be just like Lynard Skynard he says. He even won a talent contest during the Freedom Festival in Logan,... Continue reading

Gwen Sebastian may come from a small town in North Dakota, however, her voice is exceptionally huge. In 2009 she released her first single to country radio titled "Hard Rain." Shortly after she debuted her EP titled "V.I.P" but what really kick started her career was being a contestant on season two of The Voice. Gwen was swept up by team Blake, however, she did get eliminated during the battle rounds. Blake liked her so much that he offered her a spot on his tour. Her most recent single is powerful, touching and very well written, "Met Him In A Motel... Continue reading

I will admit that while watching the red carpet show I thought, "This is going to be a disaster" because some of the artist looked tired, or bored. Meanwhile, I sat on my couch with a cold one in my hand just waiting to see who won New Artist Of The Year. The show opened up with Blake Shelton singing "Boys Round Here" and he had guest such as Sheryl Crow & Pistol Annies on stage with him. Sheryl made that performance awesome! I totally loved Luke & Blake hosting together and the punch lines were just adorable. "What does... Continue reading

I'm sure you already know where this is headed, right? Of course I'm going to give a good review considering I'm a member of the B.G Nation myself. However, you have to admit this song is powerful. Brantley mentioned that Brian Davis was a cowriter on this song, which don't surprise me considering they have wrote plenty of songs together. I think the two of them together, make a great team. The song is about death, but it gives a lighter side to it and is not the traditional mourning song. I think everyone can relate to this song and... Continue reading
