Btw bloggers... Have a back-up camera in case the red Olympus gives you a card error. Card slot spring doesn't eject card properly, so error may be due to that???
Thanks for the comments. Needs must when the devil rides. A.
Another one of those mornings where the photos can hardly do justice. The blog camera sensed this and decided it wasn't going to work... There was the usual bustle before seven, a walk out though undulating shallows then a dive through effete, waist-high rolling breakers. It was warm, with bright,... Continue reading

Yes. A daily dose of Lainey is also recommended. :-)

Thanks Elizabeth. I saw the reference to the Feb function and removed it but is the 'monthly' prize draw ongoing, or also only for Feb? Thank you.

Your nervous system is responsible for organising every process in your body, every thought and every action. It comprises your brain, spinal cord, 70km of nerves and more connections than there are stars in our galaxy. Like our galaxy, we are still unraveling the mysteries of the nervous system. We... 'Too Famous Ian' is busy with his professional acting and modelling portfolio, he has no time for such amateur work.

That's great! It means you're paying attention. Now swim... :-)

Awesome! Thanks Brian.
It's easy to forget that there actually are no 'things'. We could blame linguistics, materialism's hijacking of scientific investigation or any other aspect of culture for the constant thing-a-fying of our world. Or, maybe it's just because you're simply not paying enough attention. The mind likes to take a snapshot... Continue reading

Water, the ocean, appears in many ancient stories, be it Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek, and almost all of the religious texts. Usually as a metaphor for chaos and foreboding, the dark deep unknown. But it isn’t just a chaotic, fearful place to be avoided. There’s a recurring theme of it as... Continue reading

Mild chop, a decent swell, temperature changes and a rough rip around the point... Sounds like another swim with the BnB (or a questionable Friday night on the town). The variance across 700 odd meters of ocean this morning reminds us that it isn't so much the fittest who will... Continue reading

Thanks Rosemary.
Thanks Paul, Also notice the youth in photo #1. He is looking at the beach. Lower body is grounded and strong but upper structure shows resignation... As if an instant before committing to the journey.
Never send to know for whom the bell tolls...
It's known that when you put yourself in a different environment, new genes are turned on throughout your body. These genes encode proteins that are the building blocks for a different version of yourself. A you that you’ve had the potential to be all along, but haven’t yet met. These... Continue reading

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately almost all of the photos prior to the 'lets go' at Shelley were blurred. The symmetry of the second last photo however, was fortunate.

We tend to think of the beach as the place where the water ends and solid land begins. It’s a fair supposition but, even though sand is solid, our beaches are as fluid as the ocean. Harsh storm swells impact the beach and tear it down. Whilst gentle summer waves... Continue reading

You're probably already doing it Inge. I think some coaches talk about spiraling forward from the hips. Oh, and 'vortex' or 'vortices' is probably a better search term than 'spiral' when googling into fluid dynamics and swimming. A.

Spirals appear everywhere in the universe from the double helix of DNA to distant galaxies. Physicists think it's because the spiral is one of nature's most energy efficient strategies. This feature of nature is also the reason our swims are so damn cold right now. Prevailing north east winds are... Continue reading
