I picked up this little midcentury ottoman for a mere $2.69 at a thrift store recently and thought I would show you at least the beginnings of my new venture into furniture redoing (we'll see how that goes). I love the midcentury look, which is why this piece caught my eye. Plus, it's in desperate need of some TLC. Continue reading

For my first post in way-too-many months, I thought I would start a tradition on my blog. I am calling it WIM Wednesday (WIM stands for What I Made or What I'm Making)... Continue reading

There has been much discussion and many Etsy Success blog posts on the importance of packaging your products for shipment. Buyers like to recieve items that are carefully and tastefully presented as it shows the seller cares about every detail and not just about making a sale. I remember reading some of these posts about packaging and stressing about what to do. After experimenting with different ideas, however, I finally came up with this solution for my fabric that is inexpensive and so easy! Continue reading

I thought I would share with you one of my latest big sewing projects. Technically, I did this in December for my youngest daughter's birthday. I just couldn't post it until after her day! Continue reading

This morning I sat down with a piece of paper and pen. On the top of the page I wrote "My 2014 Assessment". Under this heading I made two columns. The heading for the left column was "What Worked" and for the right column, "What Didn't Work". Continue reading

Quite some time ago, I discovered Etsy On Sale. If you go on Etsy much, you will often see certain listings with red writing along the top and a red line crossing out the original price, indicating that the item is on sale. I often wondered how people did that. Were they just good at html? Continue reading

Hi Don, I have heard of Jim Rohn (a mentor of mine speaks highly of him) but have never read more than a couple of his quotes. I like that you added "pray" in all the key places. Definitely much more effective than wishing! Thanks for the other quotes too!

In an earlier blog post, I talked a little about my inventory tracking system that I was setting up on Excel (and, um, no, it's still not finished). I thought today I would post some photos showing how I organize my fabric and how I came up with my shelf naming system which is being input into my Excel spreadsheet. Continue reading

For some time, my business mentor has been telling me I need to have my goals posted in a visible location so that I can see them all the time. She suggested that even if I placed sticky notes on the bathroom mirror, at least it would be something to remind me throughout the day. However, I decided to do something a little more creative than that. Continue reading

Although I sell fabric online, I'm also always on the lookout for additional fabric to purchase for my business projects (because a whole room full of fabric isn't quite enough!). Since I love working with hemp, I especially keep my eye out for reasonably priced hemp remnants or scraps that I can piece together to make something uniquely creative. Continue reading

My husband and I were able to take a road trip in early September which was funded completely by money earned from my business! It was very affirming and motivating to be able to do this and to enjoy the fruits of all my labor. Now THIS is why I do business! Continue reading

You've probably heard one of the definitions of insanity which is doing the same thing over and over, yet each time expecting different results. I will be the first to admit there is a certain degree of insanity that is my life. I say I want to have a clean house, for example, but many days I am guilty of merely wishing it to be and chastising myself when that wish doesn't come true. Obviously wishing it or doesn't work. So what does? Continue reading

I still remember my first sale on Etsy. I remember being almost shocked, which was quickly followed by "So what do I do now?" That was well over three years ago and I have since gone through many evolutions in my shipping procedures and in how I organize my shipping area. I thought I would share with you how I organize my shipping station Continue reading

There is a verse in the Bible that says: If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success. (Ecclesiastes 10:10) In other words, you can get by with a dull ax, but you'll be working a lot... Continue reading

If you are new to selling on Etsy or any other e-commerce platform you may not yet find it necessary to keep careful track of your inventory. When something sells, you easily find it and ship it out. Not so with me. Continue reading

I once heard a friend say she didn't like the word 'balance'. Perhaps it meant to her, in the context of her faith, that she was expected not to go overboard (in the eyes of some) in her religious zeal. Meaning that she shouldn't take it more seriously than other things. I don't think it means that at all. Continue reading
