Hello Nancy, thank you for voicing your concern. At AGF our motto is "feel the difference" and we mean that literally. Our soft hand is not only because of the high quality thread count and weave, but also because we don't coat our fabrics with unsafe chemicals. We only work with mills that are certified with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 which means you can trust that our product is safe to use for even your littlest ones. Rest assured our fabrics are not "treated with chemicals to keep bugs from nesting in the fabric," they are in fact sealed in durable plastic wrapping at the factory which keeps them clean and vibrant during transport. That said, I think pre-washing fabric before use is always a good common sense idea, especially when babies are concerned and I've added a reminder in the instructions to use pre-washed fabric.

Hi KC! Thank you, and I totally understand your concern. I will edit the post to add that I recommend always checking the fabric and stitches for any wear and tear before giving to baby and only letting baby play with this necklace while you're wearing it or under parental supervision.

Hi Donna, the one pictured is by Colonial Needle. The one I use at home was the brand my local sewing store had in stock, one by Tri-Sharp I think. They look almost identical. Make sure to check out the video link before sharpening, she gives great clear directions.

So glad you found it useful Rosemary! Yes, the cost of a handheld sharpener is the cost of two new blades- so worth it!

Hi Lynne, I'm so glad you found the article useful! Cleaning the mat is not the most fun, I'll be honest, but it's so worth it to keep it lasting for a long time! For the more stubborn fuzz I switched from nylon bristle brush, to toothbrush, and even to the sponge to help remove it.

Thanks Barbara! I saw a maternity tshirt online somewhere that said something like "I'm so DIY I'm making my own person." I kinda wish I had purchased it now, haha. And yeah, me and my son enjoy our long (kinda one-sided) conversations now. :)
