Pixie is a 7 year old Yorkie who has had a 1 month history of neck pain. She cries out when her neck is touched. Pixie also has a hypermetric gait that is not as stable as normal. Her MRI shows IVDD with Spinal Compression. On top of all this, Pixie has enlarged ventricles in her brain suggesting hydrocephalus. The C-Arm Fluoroscopy was used today to place spinal needles into each of the affected intervertebral discs. This allows Dr. Garner to see real-time exactly where to place the needle. Stem cells were then injected into each disc to regenerate these discs and reduce the spinal compression. Pixie is recovering well from her procedure. Watch the video here: Continue reading

Piper is a Pug who came to see us at Safari Veterinary Care Centers with partial cruciate ligament rupture. Piper's owners decided to treat Piper naturally, using Platelet Rich Plasma to help induce regeneration of the ligaments. Piper was treated October 31, 2016 with injections of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) directly into the knee joint. This regenerative therapy was injected into both knees using state of the art C-Arm Fluoroscopy. C-Arm is a fluoroscopy unit that allows us to see needle placement in real time, thereby providing greater accuracy in the placement and delivery of the regenerative stem cells or PRP. This C-Arm unit is one of the reasons Safari Veterinary Care Centers is able to do more advanced Stem Cell Therapy treatments and see greater success. In fact, it allows us to treat Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) with stem cells and/or surgery, a great advantage in the treatment and success of this debilitating disease! Continue reading
