After a working session with my client last week, I am feeling confident about my project. She enjoyed the format of my presentation, as well as the content. We’ve identified some gaps to fill in, which I am currently working through before we touch base again by Wednesday. Assuming there are a few more pieces coming out of Wednesday, I plan to be FINISHED with my Capstone project by this weekend, which is a crazy feeling. Next on my to-do list is to prepare for the presentation itself. I’m typically not an anxious presenter, but I’d rather be well-prepared (without... Continue reading

It’s all coming together… I made a lot of progress on my presentation over the past week to prepare for a working session with my client, which is today. I have identified some gaps where I will need to do some additional research to fill these spots in, but it is nice to see what I have start to build a story. I plan to fill in some of these gaps today, as I’d like to take a 90% complete version to optimize my time with my client. I am looking forward to all of the feedback, as I feel... Continue reading

This week, the update is that there is not much of an update. I am still in the process of just pulling the pieces together in my final deliverable. My goal is to finish it this week so I can fill in any gaps over the next week or two. I am also hoping to have a working session with my client, as she knows the ins and outs of the end client and can help finesse and tailor it more to their needs. The bottom line is that I’m feeling good! I want to wrap up my deliverable early... Continue reading

I am finally watching my project come to life… I’ve taken the plunge to starting on my final deliverable, which has been a very good feeling! To me, this is the fun part. For my deliverable, I am creating a meaningful PPT deck that answers all of the client’s business objectives and wraps up with a business recommendation. Again, the options are limitless on how to pull this together, but I am enjoying this creative aspect (although it can get very time consuming if I allow it). This is also the place where I am really pulling from previous courses,... Continue reading

Last week I had a very productive meeting with my client. She was able to reassure me on the ideas I have so far, as well as give me direction on how to make them even stronger. Hearing her feedback was very beneficial, as I needed to limit the possible opportunities. Hindsight, I was falling into the trap of “everything is possible” and “thinking outside the box” which was leading me in circles. Now I feel like I have a path to follow to make this business recommendation come to life. With that, I also need to stay focused on... Continue reading

I made progress this weekend, and that is a good feeling. After being subject to “life” last week, getting back on track and making some progress was much needed. It is also now March, and that is a wake up call! That means we present our final projects next month. Where is the time going?! There is no more time for “off weeks” or for stalling. It is time to re-visit my project charter and break that out into a more detailed list of things to do each week to ensure I stay on track. Doing this will help me... Continue reading

Admittedly, I have not had the most productive week with my capstone project. We are getting into the “plateau” period we’ve been warned about, and many outside variables are pushing me into that spot. Between a busy work schedule, fighting flu/bronchitis season, and other classes piling up, I’ve been guilty of the plateau. However, I’m not accepting these as excuses and am fighting this week to dig myself back uphill to make some progress. I’ve had my “off” week and am turning this into motivation to work twice as hard this week to make up for lost time and push... Continue reading

The past week involved a lot of check-ins, and reassuringly, they all went very well. I previously mentioned my “moment of truth” check in with the client, who circled back around and confirmed that the progress I’ve made is on the right track. Actually, the objectives have gotten more specific in terms of having specific countries to focus on as opposed to any and every country. While I appreciated the freedom of searching, I feel like this helps me direct my searches to ensure delivering quality insights to the end client. I also found the first project review to be... At this point, I feel like I’ve made a good amount of progress on gathering information for my capstone project. Don’t get me wrong, there is still a lot to do, but I’ve covered more than half of my objectives on the surface level. Now, it is time for the “moment of truth.” I want to ensure I am delivering value to my client, so I’ve sent it along for their review. Just like we talked about in class, I want to be sure we are aligned on expectations before we are too far into the project. Based on the... Continue reading

Although I’ve been saying there is so much to do and so little time, there is so much to explore, and I don’t know where to start, I figured the only thing I could do was to just start. That was my goal over the past week, and I feel as though I’ve had great success. Part of managing my time effectively involves staying organized, so I started the good habit of just that. I created a document that outlines the objectives and started taking bulleted notes on all of the information I am finding. While there is still so... Continue reading

My focus this week has been shifted to the project charter. While my feelings of excitement remain, the phrase “so much to do, so little time” also comes to mind. During my initial meeting with the client, we talked about the objectives at hand, and there is a long list of topics to research. While they are all related, there is just so much out there to explore. Although many might view it as a good thing, I have found that being a perfectionist can sometimes be my biggest weakness. I have found this to be particularly true since I... Continue reading

I enter my final semester in the MS-Marketing program with feelings of excitement. While I’ve learned so much over my time in the program, I believe this will be the semester, and the class, that provides the biggest impact. I know I will be implementing my learnings thus far, which will simultaneously be challenging and rewarding. In fact, I already hear Dr. Kellaris from Consumer Insights asking the key question “why?” as I begin my journey of digging into consumer behavior within the pharmaceutical industry. At this point I’ve had my first meeting with my client at Barefoot Proximity and... Continue reading
